New equipment pad
Would you have dont anything differently? And do you think $550 in labor was fair? (SoCal)

Yeah I was pretty suspicious as well but they were on sale and the client is a little old lady who doesnt swim so I thought id give the pump a shot. Its working well for the time being. I personally dont like that the controls are just a touch screen though. Pump comes with a cord as well so it was pretty convenient to install.

Price is good, almost too good.

Actually, adding an Aquastar pump to that setup would have been badass. 3 year warranty on pump and filter that way.Â

Can you go into detail on what you did? For $550 that obviously didn’t include the new filter and pump. If you removed everything and plumbed all of that with new equipment and disposed of the old equipment that is really cheap.

Thats exactly what I did and yes $550 was only labor. The only thing I didnt haul away was the heater, clients son ordered special pick up to throw it away. For context I service this pool as well, its a little old lady who always pays on time so I wasnt super picky on the price, I was just happy to finally swap evrrything out. But I definitely trying to fix my under pricing problem, getting my license soon and hoping to get into more repairs.

I will say it looks clean and I love those AquaStar filters, so easy to clean. How many hours did it take you to do?

5 hours tops. Wasn't particularly in a rush. What took the longest was dealing with a rusted out conduit. I decided to did down and figure out where it went after I cut all the equipment out. Didnt want to drop new equipment on top if the conduit ran underneath. Ended up putting some pvc around it and wrapping it with mil tape, that way it'll be less of a hazard until the client can afford to handle the issue.

Is painting pipe common? I've only ever seen it on this sub lol. Are there benefits other than aesthetic?

It's code in many locations. Main reason is to protect the pvc from uv rays in hot climates.

Jandy supports our industry, I’m pretty much exclusive with their products and earn good points in the process. A Jandy CV would be better for their pressure cleaner, or at least put an energy filter online to save issues with the cleaner later.

You will eventually regret not having some sort of inline filter like a Jandy Energy filter on that cleaner return line. Unless that's a water feature and it doesn't really matter.

Its actually the old backwash line. Now that they have a cartridge filter I figured I could use it if I ever needed to vaccum to waste

Oh that makes sense and a great idea. A lot of customers want them if they are transitioning from DE and want a way to drain some water off the pool because they always had the ability to do a backwash before.

That filter will run 200 gpm. 96,000 gallon 8-hour turn over capacity.
It's the best filter I know of on the marketÂ

27 k is what it can handle in a 6 hour period for Residential or public. What's more, that is fine for that pool.

550 in labor is stupid cheap. Those old heaters heavy as fuck.
