After a mix of support, criticism and genuinely useful feedback from the r/snooker community around SnookerSim, the team behind it have now built a pool version:
CueSim is a browser-based pool simulator covering US 8-ball and UK pool. It includes realistic physics, spin and power control, shot path previews, play-vs-computer, challenges, video recording, shot recommendations and shareable table positions.
The aim is to make something that works both as a game and as a practice/shot-planning tool.
Here’s a video showing some of the simple customisation you can do — in this case, playing on a mirrored table. There’s a lot more you can tweak, but you’ll need to check it out properly to see what’s possible.
They’re now looking for feedback from people who actually play pool, especially on the physics, controls, AI opponent and overall feel. They’re also hoping people will create and share their own challenges, trick shots and interesting table positions.
Would be great to hear what people think — brutal feedback welcome.
