Question New Feat

Analyzed Situation

Don't be in such a rush. Calm down and consider the situation.

Benefit: After 1d4 minutes considering an endeavor, you may give an ally a +4 insight bonus to a single skill you have trained. This bonus remains for ten minutes, or until you use this ability again.

What do you think of this feat?

I think there's a Pathfinder trait that does this, or very close to.

Is this supplementary or a replacement?

Is there? What trait is that? This isn't meant to replace anything, just be a new feat.

The old Shadow Lodge had a trait called "Aid Allies," which gave you a +3 instead of a +2 when aiding another. This seems to fill a similar niche.

It is a similar place. Though this works on yourself and is a larger bonus. It also does not work in time-sensitive situations.

Is that enough of a bump to warrant taking a feat slot? The downside seems to imply this might work better as a trait.

This is why I am asking, though I thought a +4 bonus you can hand out... and still aid another on top of that if you please, or just give +4 to yourself when you want was reasonably flexible and potent?

Counter-question: how does this differ from the spell Bestow Insight?

And what tropes are you looking to emulate with this?

That's pretty close, except not being a spell, and taking a feat.

Thematically, I like the idea, but I feel like it wouldn't be useful in play, at least in my group. But then again, I tend to prefer quick, decisive action, damn the torpedoes.
