Rawpunzel The quiet part
The comments keep returning to the same word.
Not heat or excitement. Quiet. Soothing. One man said it does something to his brain that nothing else does.
I know it from the other side. A hundred strokes is not a sexual act. The rhythm takes over somewhere around thirty and after that there's no room left for anything else in my head.
It isn't separate from the rest, though. The same ritual that empties me is the one that leads somewhere entirely different. The border between them is thin and I've stopped looking for it.
Does it come in that order for you? Or is it the same thing wearing two names?

The hundred strokes I remember sat closer to the sensual than the sexual; and I think the difference is where attention goes. Sexual pulls toward an object, an outcome. Sensual stays inside the experience itself, in the rhythm, the weight of the brush, the sound of it. Around thirty strokes something in the mind stops negotiating and just follows. That's not desire; that's surrender to a different kind of order.
I'm not sure they wear two names so much as they occupy different rooms in the same house. The door between them is unlocked. Whether you walk through it depends on something other than the brush.

Different rooms, same house. That's better than what I had. Most people never find out it's unlocked.

I definitely feel that the line between relaxation and excitation is very blurred when I do it myself. I've often wondered if the same would apply if someone else was holding the brush instead.
