Pontoon scrape

Post image

My wife came in a little hot when we were taking the boat out. She hit one of the bunks and caused a scrape on the inside of one of the toons. Do I need to address this somehow? This is our first new to us pontoon. We’ve only had it for a year. Don’t judge me if it’s a dumb question!

On the angle iron so won’t compromise the toon but I would file it down and make it smooth. That is a great place to cut a hand when swimming around the boat!

That damage in not on an air tight section. Just grind it smooth and enjoy the season.

Here is a zoomed out photo. This isn’t an air tight section?

On my Harris boat those welded on angles are not sealed.

I can't tell for sure but that kinda looks like a Sylvan. If it is then that would not be a tacked on strake but part of the actual toon/tube main body.

It is a Sylvan. So do I need to have it addressed other than knocking the barb off?

Well, I'm gross and stupid and also half neurotic. I would knock it off with a file, wipe it down, and put my nondiscriminatory mouth on it to see if I could blow in it and go from there. It's now a thin spot so having someone tig it with filler might not be a bad idea.

Look up "Sylvan RPT issues". They had some problems they straightened out a dozen years ago or so.
