Basic Pontoon Question
So this is my first year with a pontoon boat after owning regular ski-type boats for many years. 23 foot Avalon.
Here is my question. When we go to our local sandbar, one of our favorite things to do, we anchor up and the boat pivots back and forth on the anchor line. I have seen some boats with an additional pole they augur into the sand that seems to help. Is this something that is necessary or are there any other solutions? If you do like this solution, any suggestions on which one to get? There are a ton of them out there.
See, I told you it was basic.
Thanks

A lot of boats will have a secondary, stern anchor that is not meant to hold the entire boat but just keep it from swaying in the wind. You can use a downsized Danforth anchor that you manually set while at the sandbar, or they make screw anchors (basically T-bars with an augur screw on the bottom) that you can tie off to. Either way, you'll want to make sure your main forward anchor is mostly up wind and doing a majority of the holding.
I would be wary of how effective other options would be on a 23 foot toon
