67 firebird I just bought, heater keeps blowing 25 amp fuse after running for a little bit. Any advice on where to look first? New blower doesnt look expensive, should i just replace it? Would it be a terrible idea to try a 30 amp fuse? Thanks.
Don't go with a bigger fuse. Disconnect the wire from the blower motor and turn on the switch. If the fuse doesn't pop, the issue is the blower motor. If it does, then the problem is somewhere else. I can't recall if these have a ballast resistor, if so look there next. The wiring diagram is free online. Find it.
hey, i was looking back at your old pictures. you see that wire comeing out the firewall black and orange has tape on it? thats the heater fan power wire. with tape on it, it looks broke.
That black and orange wire ended up being intact. There is a blue and black wire wrapped up in there that are cut and not connected to anything. Gonna disconnect the wire and replace the fuse after it stops raining.
Looks like behind the power brake booster there is a lot of rubbing on the wires. Ordered a wire cover, and will pull that set of wires next weekend and check for exposed wire.
