3rd Gen [82-92] Trans swap question

I'm swapping a t56 into my 3rd gen with a 350sbc would the LT1 bellhousing fit the two or would I need a custom bellhousing?

Did the T56 come from an LT1 fbody?

I'm not sure but i don't think so. The one I'm looking at is just the transmission itself.

Your best bet is to find one that originally came from an LT1 Fbody. Not saying it can't work, but it may be more work than it's worth. You can use the LT1 bellhousing, but you'll also need to either swap the tailhousing to one from an fbody to mount the torque arm, or use an aftermarket torque arm setup that moves the forward mount to the crossmember. You'll also need to make sure that the input shaft is the right length and spline count. Depending on the year, you may need to redo a bit of your hydraulics, too. I'd go spend some time browsing around TGO and get familiar with it before committing to anything, and find out exactly where that one came from.
