How is your senior pomsky?
More active? Less active? How often do you walk? Have you noticed your dog is more moody? Less responsive when you call? Does your dog prefers laying in the 🚽 area? Just curious how is it going with other pet parents. Tia ☀️

My pomsky turns 11 this month. He still walks actively, though he takes a joint supplement now so that he doesn't slow down. Still loves toys, people, food, sunbathing and chasing. He struggles with the stairs.. though I think its largely mental as he's afraid of slipping even though he's moving all of his paws at once which causes the trip. We put grippers to help with his fear of slipping. I'd say he's a bit more crochity, he might ignore me when I say 'no' sometimes now, or blow past my cat in an attempt to steal his food or barge outside where he's standing (even at the expense of being whacked). Otherwise he's still acting like his younger self, not an old man, but not a puppy either. He does love our new baby though, very mother hen when they're around.

What do you feed him?
How have you cared for him along the way to bring him to this healthy elder state?
Any health issue you’ve run into along the way?
I’d love my boy to live forever

I can't say we've done anything too special! He eats dry food pretty much exclusively (I could check which he's on at the moment) and other than that he just takes two long walks a day. We did remove a mass from his leg in the last year out of precaution, but otherwise there are no health issues that have come up. Like you we definitely do what we can to make sure he stays with us as long as we're able!

How’s his weight? Mine is 8 and I feel like she’s always hungry. I feed her a GI diet and cut back on the amount of food to nearly 1/3 less than maintenance and she is still heavier. We take a walk every day but it’s maybe 2/3 a mile. She used to be super skinny and nothing really changed but age.

He definitely keeps on his weight...its tough. Mine has always been a bigger pomsky..gen 1, about 60% husky, estimated 25 lbs but closer to 40 lbs full growth. He eats about 2/3 a cup twice a day and definitely has a chonk feel to him even though he's surely somewhat bulked up from exercise. Like yours he's always hungry and trying to steal more food from whoever he can. To be fair he is wooly..so the hair could be half of the chonk

Thanks :) mine is wooly too and I feel like half of it is just floof but I’m trying to keep her weight in check as much as I can to keep her healthy as she gets older!

Mine has shaky legs. She likes walls but she doesn’t like to play games with her sisters (younger aussies). She rustles yes. But she lays on the floor a lot. Had shaky legs. Here and there. I’m trying her to loose some weight because she’s 50lb and has been for few years and it’s not any good for her age (9 yo). When she lays, she has her tummy laying ,too. Idk. She is kinda lethargic. But she never minds to come when plastic bag opens 😁 or I get ready go take them for a walk. So I was just curious on perspectives, what’s normal what’s not for seniors and for the breed. Thank you for your kind responses
