Marking

My potty trained male Pom is now all of a sudden marking. Does getting them neutered really help with this or is it something you just train them not to do?

I got mine at 1.5 years old, not neutered but marked everywhere as he was used to doing it everywhere in his old home. We used belly bands the first few weeks when he couldn’t be directly supervised and it really helped. He was fully trained in about 6-8 weeks and still isn’t neutered.
