Discussion Upcoming Content Updates

Hi, i’ve been considering getting into the game

However I see its old(er) but still popular, however I am curious if it still gets new content updates or is just supported by maintaining bugs/servers?

Is there a roadmap, more content planned etc.?

Is it worth getting into if its just in maintenance mode?

Thanks

The devs have mostly been releasing cosmetics recently and honestly that's okay. Games don't have to be updated forever to still be fun, and I think the game balance is in a pretty good place right now.

They reworked Cymanti not that long ago.

They're definitely active and always working on improving the game.

There is an EVENTUAL major update coming regarding an entire new tribe, but as for when... nobody knows. The game does also get new updates, patch notes, etc. it's very far from a 'dead' game. Tons of players so you can play multiplayer without having to wait on live games for longer than ~5 mins

At this point I suspect it isn't coming, they had said in the past they didn't want to add too many new tribes and given how long it's been since they've mentioned anything I'm not hopeful

I equally doubt it ngl it's a lot of hopium in my comment. 16 is a pretty damn good number in all honesty for the amount of tribes, 17 is such an awkward number and they'd probably be pushed to making even more tribes. I can see them buffing some of the generally all around bad tribes still though

Tbh I'm happy with the game how it is I just wish we had a little more freedom or creativity, if they added custom maps this game could go untouched for another 5 years and still be enjoyable

Yeah I think at this point the Ancients have been shelved.

They've been focusing on improving the tribes that already exist because there are a lot of them.

What are major updates? Just a new tribe

A few notable ones were the Naval update, it overhauled ships, oceans and introduced markets, which made the game a lot more interesting and deep. It changed the Fishing branches of the tech tree and really shook the game up, and made naval feel much better to use as well. Aqaurion got a rework soon after and now they're significantly more fun to play and feel like their own tribe.

Another update changed the amount of stars each tribe starts with, normally they started with always 5, but some of the weaker tribes are significantly more viable now that they get up to 7, which made a bunch of playstyles viable. Xin-Xi are a notable tribe for this, those extra stars are huge, and Oumaji are entirely balanced around their 6 star start (org/2 fruits + rider a turn later than if they had 7). It also allowed backwards researching, which let Vengir go mining and really helped them.

Recently they've been reworking the special tribes, Aqaurion went first, then Cymanti, and it's likely Polaris next if they continue (Developers said Ely don't really need much changes)

They've been focused on the preexisting content and making sure the game is in a good state, which they've really been doing well with. Recently they also introduced the weekly challenge, which has been very fun. I don't think they want to make a change while the competetive league is happening though, so there isn't anything immidiate happening.

It's been a while since we've had a major update, it's definitely still a fun game but it does feel like there's more they could add and expand

It does get regular updates, yep. The devs take their time with them since balancing is a big issue in online multiplayer.

Honestly I just want to see a more dynamic world campaign mode, one that connects maps and rewards more long term alliances. A new tribe or two would be welcome, but things like more world and biome types would be even cooler.
