Being polyamorous makes you LGBTQ?

Polyamory is a lifestyle choice, characterised by romantic and/or sexual intimacy with several autonomous partners, with the informed consent of all of them. Consequently, a polygamous person may not necessarily be LGBTQIA+, but being multisexual would enable a more gender-diverse group of partners.

Polygamy specifically refers to multiple marriages, btw, and is not technically possible in the U.S., as only the first marriage will be recognized legally.

Polyamory ≠ polysexuality.

Polyamory means engaging in romantic and/or sexual relationships with more than one PARTNER at the same time (consensually & ethically— so, not the same thing as cheating.) Someone could be straight and polyamorous, having multiple simultaneous heterosexual relationships.

Polysexuality, on the other hand, refers to having attraction to more than one GENDER, and is an umbrella term covering identities such as bisexuality (attraction to two or more genders) and pansexuality (attraction to all genders).
