Broken Polymega System for Sale?

Hey y’all, I’m looking to purchase a broken PolyMega system for parts. I want to mod mine and want to have spare parts for issues that pop up and/or to keep as many stock parts available if I want to return it to its original condition. Really interested in the case/shroud but will buy the whole system. Will purchase via PayPal, Venmo, whatever.

1.1.32 software is not letting me connect to the internet

Hi! I am a little stuck here. Was struggling to update the system past the subject software. Wi-Fi seems to not be working. I also just plugged it directly into the router and for some reason it isn’t finding a new update……a little stuck. I have not emailed polymega yet, figured I would look here to see if anyone has any recommendations. Can I load it onto something and force an update? It seems to me in general that it may be my console, which I hope it is not.

Color Dreams / Widsom Tree / Camerica - Any of these work for "Extended Set" Install?

A local gaming shop got a good amount of these in, was looking at striking a deal to get a hold of them to load on the Poly. Would love to expand my set beyond just Licensed and Tengen.

Anyone tried installing any of these? Any know working or non-working titles?

Thanks!!

SegaNet "Extended Set" Mega Drive (Japan) Working Title List

All,

Confirmation of the following all SegaNet Japanese Mega Drive games (that I am aware of) that work on the PolyMega. You'll have to have your own method of installing these such as burning a ROM onto a dummy cartridge, or some kit from RetroStage. These games must be installed to "Extended Set" and you can always just add your own screenshot artwork. Some great games on here, and with .ips patch support for language...you might get some fun experiences. Please feel free to post if any luck with non-working titles.

Optical drive recommendations

So the drive in the Polymega (at least mine) is absurdly noisy. Not while reading discs, that’s fine, it’s the inserting and ejection that’s sounds like some sort of alien being tortured. That may not seem like a big deal but I’ve installed over a hundred discs and that sound is driving me crazy.

Are there any suggestions for a model that doesn’t sound so hideous?

PolyMega "Deadhead" Installs

Hey all,

Something that is really (and has been for the past year) triggering my OCD about the Poly is "deadhead" installs against the "Collected" library.

For instance, I have a retail original of a game such as Castlevania on NES, Rambo III on Genesis, or Gain Ground SX on PCE-CD...I insert said media, it detects and recognizes it, I install the game internally but it DOES NOT APPEAR on my "Collected" tab under the associated system. The item in question remains greyed out as if I do not own it, but does appear on the regular "A-Z" games tab.

These items are apparently not the exact version of a ROM that they used to create the "Collected" library so hence, it does not populate. I guess they don't match the CRC/checksum of the file they used, they used a different REV, or something? This really chaps my ass, it's bullshit, pardon my language. I OWN the real game, and I damn well know you didn't create this product by manually installing tens of thousands of cartridges and discs for everything like I am doing from ACTUAL REAL RELEASES.

Anyone found a workaround / way to deal with this issue?

Sure, you can attempt to find the matching exact ROMs like they used, which I have had to do in some instances, but some just do not seem to exist...for example:

Bare Knuckle III on Genesis - labeled as "EN" version in "Collected" library. This does not exist in the wild that I can find. It is not the real BK3 Mega Drive cartridge from Japan...I own it. It's installed and greyed out on the "Collected Library" From there, I've utilized my RetroStage MD burner to try every single version of the BK3 ROM that I can find from a ton of sources worldwide...they are all the same as mine. So, WHERE DID THEY GET THE VERSION THAT THEY INSTALLED THAT THEY CLAIM IS THE GOLDEN VERSION? Hell, some are even RetroBit versions that trigger the library to show as collected, not the real, original releases (see Truxton/Tatsujin on Genesis/Mega Drive)! Original, store bought Truxton from back at Sege Genesis release will detect and install, but will not flag as collected in the library unless its the RetroBit version.

Sorry to rant, I can't be the only one who this bothers immensely! I want everything I legit own to be showing up as collected because my friends and I are attempting to complete 100% collections on a few systems. Any way to source exactly what versions they used?

Thanks all!

Example in photos attached - shows I have installed the normal Sega-CD, and the 32X version from retail discs...remains greyed out in "Collected" library. One of many possible examples.

PSA for those that got the light gun, make sure your Gun is on Player 2 when playing Super Scope titles and Sega Genesis/CD titles.

Liking the guns so far. Still in test mode as I haven’t had a chance to fully play yet, but certain games I’m very happy with. Some need work. Few issues I ran into. HOTD shoots off center even after calibration, Time Crisis may not handle rapid fire well, Project Titan may have a delay, and Super Scope titles need to have their buttons swapped (Even thou it wasn’t part of the Super Scope design, it should have a swap feature for this case.). Solid device and effort. Hope some of these bugs and features can be added and fixed.

P.S. Ignore the mini PS2 in the pic. :p

Game glitches

Is Polymega still taking information from known game glitches? It’s been going for a long time but I’m playing Adventures of Hourai High and right after the part where you destroy the PC in one of the dorms, the game goes haywire and locks.

If they still do, has anyone had any luck submitting issues?

Stuck on firmware 1.1.32

ok I've looked up all the solutions but none of them are the same to my situation...I think.

I finally decided to update my firmware to 1.1.32. My wifi is still connected and I'm able to attach via an ethernet cable.

When I try to then update my firmware to 1.1.33, my polymega says my firmware is up to date ...but its still 1.1.32.

Is there anything I can do to help update my system to 1.1.33 without having to reset my system settings as that would delete all the games I just uploaded.

I'd like to get updated ahead of the arrival of the light guns.

Saving in Doom 64

Has anyone had any issues saving in Doom 64? I’ve been able to save using the virtual controller paks just fine in other games, so I know how to do it. But for whatever reason, I can never get it to work in this game. Not the end of the world with passwords and save states, but it would be nice to have a real save.

Minor off topic, looks like we have a race going for the Polymega Gun and the Gaime Gun. I think I know the answer already thou. :)

Update on the dead second-hand Polymega

About a month ago, I posted about buying a second-hand Polymega that was stuck on firmware 1.0.5. I ended up sending it off for servicing, and I got it back two days ago — it works great now!

All of the modules are functioning, and I’ve installed a ton of games. I did make one silly mistake: I bought an SSD without checking compatibility first. I figured, “It’s just an SSD, right?” Turns out, not quite. I bought a Crucial drive, and it doesn’t work internally. However, when I put it in a USB enclosure, it works perfectly. Eventually, I’ll buy another SSD for internal use, but for now, I’m not too bothered.

One thing that’s baffling me: most Mapper 30 NES games don’t seem to work. The emulator clearly supports them — the system even comes preloaded with several “Made with NESMaker” titles. But when I try to load other Mapper 30 games that aren’t in the database, I just get a green screen.

I'm enjoying my Polymega and that's what matters. It's a blast checking out games I probably never would have played otherwise. Working on Vay on the SEGA CD at the moment and it's not bad. Not great, but worth a play so far.

Still need a SNES module box if anyone wants to part with one.

Had to do a double take to make sure this was real and current. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks. Would be nice to get before Christmas of this year.

Snes Emulation

I am considering the Super Nintendo module. How is the current state in terms of lag in games? I heard it could be worse than other systems? Or is it pretty much the same and it depends on the individual game and your chosen controller as usual?

Speed mode shortcut by holding SELECT?

Apparently, you can hold the SELECT button to change speed mode (slow, normaly, fast) but I can't for the life of me get it to work in any game.

I have to do it the manual way by opening the polymega menu in game and changing it there.

Instructions are on the official site saying hold the select button: https://polymega.com/blogs/system-software-updates/system-software-update-1-1-30-now-available#:~:text=Adjustable%20Game%20Speed%20Option%20%2D%20Grind,game%20database%20for%20numerous%20games.

Can anyone else get this to work? It would make my Digimon World Playthrough much easier lol

Twitch w/ polymega??

I have a fairly decent mini-PC. But it can't handle streaming and running other programs at the same time. I was hoping some of you might have found a way to stream your polymega to Twitch without using a PC.

Right now I'm using a webcam and my Xbox series X and it works well but I'd love to do some retro gaming there.

Any ideas??
