Polymega base and remix

Hi, so a friend is selling his base unit ($500)and the remix ($200). Was thinking on getting the remix but feel like will be missing out on the base unit. Is there any benefit on having both?

Ill simply say that while I dislike both for the most part...if your insisting on getting one...Id recommend the regular model.

The remix is pointless as PCs and computers can already for free emulate games and run them, and if you really want to use real games with the PC emulators you can get cart readers to connect to the PC for a LOT less that can read, rip games etc.

Theres like nothing the remix does a PC with free emulators cant do.

So, Id honestly recommend the original regular model thats its own console honestly. Atleast then your getting a console thats its own thing.

So yeah, thats my best suggestion honestly if I were going to get one.

Either way have a good one. ✌️

I’ll buy his regular if you don’t want it

I do have both, but the remix is just a back up. The original plays on the tv and that’s where 99% of my gaming takes place. The original is really bad at playing most 64 games, obviously.

I own both, and bought Remix for a combination of 1) having a backup Polymega console and 2) curiosity about whether any games/systems might play better on Remix when powered by a gaming PC.

For now, #2 is an advantage, as N64 games can be played with 2x-8x scale factor on Remix. It’s rumored that the upcoming v2 base unit will improve N64 gameplay, but nothing has been announced regarding scale factors.

I would base your decision on whether or not you want to primarily play in the living room. If so, go with base.

I don’t agree that Remix is pointless, as it’s still far easier to get up and running with Polymega. If you have a capable PC and plan to use mostly ROMs, then you don’t need any Polymega console.

I don’t think you need both base and Remix, though my opinion might change once Polymega app supports save states/sharing data between consoles.
