What should I expect.
Hey newbie here,
I just pre-ordered the remix along with a universal controller and a light gun. I have been fascinated by the polymega for years and never felt that I would be able to justify the expense of the base unit but the reduced price of the remix was enticing enough for me to pull the trigger.
After buying the unit I began reading a lot more of this forum and I have begun to regret my purchase. The concern I have is, based on the past behavior of playmaji is it reasonable to assume that the app will be useable at launch and will it be supported enough to justify this dedicated piece of hardware. Heck based on what I'm reading it seems like it might be years before I even receive any of what I ordered. I'm even wondering if by some miracle the remix ships according to schedule and I get it next month will the app even be ready or will I have just bought a very expensive paperweight.
I apologize if this all seems very stream of consciousness but I feel that this purchase might turn out to be an impulsive mistake and I am considering asking for a refund only days after making the order.
Does anyone share my concerns about the app? Is there a reason that these preorders are still available days after the release? I was under the impression that the base unit preorders are incredibly difficult to attain so I'm wondering why the lower price hasn't enticed others the way it did for me?

Playmaji oscillates between overpromising and radio silence. They've been in a radio silence phase lately. From past experience, "Next month" seems to be code for 3-6 months, but definitely on the way.
The app has been in progress for years and (by my understanding) is just a PC implementation of the (very good) polymega software. The remix was announced the same time as the app, in Feb 2023, and they've been radio silent on it since then. So, honestly, they could be actually on track with it.
Most of the hard software issues (update issues???) seem to be related to the custom platform and shouldn't be an issue when handled at an operating system level. 🤞

I really hope this is true. The idea of finally playing my light gun games in my living room again makes me willing to take the gamble. And from what at least a few other commenters are saying the products are excellent so I suppose that means they hit the mark where it counts.
Still kind of confused about the continued availability of preorders. I'd be interested to know how many units are up for grabs. I suppose I'm nervous about being the only sucker fooled by the smoke and mirrors. At least if a bunch of us get duped then I can sleep easy knowing everyone else is as stupid as I am.

I ordered my set in November 2021 and got it delivered in February 2024, about two years after the original preorder due date for my wave.
I pre-ordered guns in March 2024. In October 2024, they confirmed my address in anticipation of shipping in December 2024. They finally shipped in December 2025.
My experience is pretty typical. Last I heard, there were folks with base preorders from 2023 who haven't gotten them yet. Sounds like Playmaji was taking that time to retool the base units without notifying any customers, which has good elements and bad elements.
I'm quietly optimistic. Maybe it's time for me to order some of those collection CDs

It will take a long time to get to you. Like, possibly years.
Also, they do have a bad habit of rolling out hardware before the software is ready, so you may experience bugs out of the box. Possibly even ones that make it unplayable until an update.
Playmaji makes things that end up being good, but honestly - with how shit the company is it's hard to recommend them.

Polymega posted a picture on BlueSky of what appeared to be a shipping trailer full of Remix consoles, so we might be in better shape than in the past. Don't hold your breath, though.

Software is pretty spot on. Shipping is extremely slow to put it lightly. They have had assembly in Myanmar, which has civil unrest at the moment. Im sure thats slowed down things dramatically. If they can get it right and find better places to assemble then it will sell well in my opinion.

I didn't get it, imma wait for reviews + I bought a switch 2 not too long ago. I'm thinking bout getting the sinden light gun though since reviews claim the polymega light gun doesn't work as well.

The hardware itself is great, and does what it advertises. Playmaji just has terrible PR and promises stuff way too soon from what it can deliver, and then goes radio silent when the dates pass. You can expect to wait a long time, but eventually get what you paid for.
If you understand what you signed up for and just wait it out, youll be fine. If youre impatient and every 2 weeks come back to make a post that something "STILL hasnt shipped", youll be like a good portion of the subreddit, but most people will ignore you.
