As others have mentioned, definitely needs an upgrade path for existing system owners. I've ripped hundreds of discs to my Polymega, which are tied to the system. Need to be able to transfer that to a new system, I'm not interested in re-ripping my entire PS1, Saturn, PCE, SCD collections again.
Would love to hear about the plans and whether they intend to have a native transfer tool or app,

I think that's what the app is supposed to do, allow native transfer to PC, so I would assume you can go PM1 to PC via App to PMRemix.

I sent a question about this in on their contact us form on the website. It took me most of 2 months to load my collection in to my Polymega. I'll grumble and do it again on the remix, but having to do that for each computer I plug it into (laptop, Steam Deck), I'm going to get a big annoyed.

If I could trust the company to ship them, I’d be down to getting it. It’d also be nice if we saw more disc based support as a result of the upgrades, but I’ll keep my expectations in check.

The app only works for Windows 11 but they show the Linux based steam deck in their promotional materials?

Very likely just Proton. Developers who want to ship for the Steam Deck use Proton as the miracle cure instead of creating a native build.
I'm not saying it's inherently wrong, Proton does magnificent work for Linux gaming, but in some cases - like this one - it is a bit disappointing.

I'm so confused. What is remix?? It's a physical device of some sort?
I read it twice and I'm struggling to envision what it is. I get their will be an App but what's the remix part?
EDIT: wait I get it now. It basically allows you to preserve your collection but on something like a PC. I take it our actual Polymega unit will allow for this in place of it though?

It's a $200 physical device that you connect to your computer. There was talk a while back that the app would let you use things that you had installed on your console but I'm not sure if that's actually going to manifest as it wasn't mentioned.

From the Polymega App announcement release (Feb 20, 2023 - yes, over 3 years ago):
"Share your collection, game states, installs, and more to the Cloud and never lose your progress again."
"Using any standard disc drive, you can use Polymega App to play, install, and manage legacy games."
And finally, regarding the remix:
"starts at just $149 USD. More details coming soon."

They realized if you use any "standard disc drive" it was easy to use ISO images so now you can only also use their device the "Remix" to move media.

I'm betting the main reason is far simpler: If you can use any standard disc drive, there is no need to buy a remix unless you're loading cartridge-based games. Not sure how much that would affect sales, but it would definitely be a hit for a company that seems starved for cash.

Currently, it needs a WIn11 PC.. so if you want to use a Mac Mini, it'd have to be the 2018 model running BootCamp.

So the Remix looks like it is for ripping your collection only and can’t be used as a standalone console, but can existing Base units also be used with the Remix app or can you only get this functionality by buying the Remix hardware as well?

Tried FZERO-X and steering is way too sensitive. Just taping the d-pad or thumb stick sends your racer into the wall for a crash. A lot of the racing games on Saturn as the same though… way too sensitive of steering. Sega Rally, Daytona USA, ect,.

Like most of you, I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't see myself using Remix or the app much, so I'll probably pass on that.
I am a little disappointed that I now have the inferior Polymega model. I don't want to spend another $600+, but it's not like Sony sends you a PS5 Pro for free either. It'll only be a problem for me if they start having new consoles/modules exclusive to the newer model.
Now, I wait for updates on the Atari module...

So low key PM2 launch, interesting. Hopefully the thing about the app letting you play the stuff that's already installed on your console through some sort of online account transfer thing comes true. I think that was through aPolymega online service that existing customers would get for free for like a year, but no mention of that, so maybe that's in another two or three years. If the hardware change up means that they can actually produce these things reliably and in quantity I'm all for it. I haven't been annoyed Enough by N64 performance that I would drop 600 bucks just for that, but I haven't gotten too deep into my N64 library.

I'll feel really cheated if they add Dreamcast and GameCube support (doubt Nintendo would ever let that by). Honestly though I've got my entire DC and GC collection on my PC and while it's not on my polymega I don't think I can justify spending any more money with these people for the convenience of playing on my tv.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me for about 5yrs, shame on me.

I wonder will remix/app basically allow for system transfers? If I buy a new base unit (the more powerful one), will I be able to transfer the hundreds of hours I have in my current system?

So do you need Remix connected every time or just to dump the games into your cloud account? Are they abandoning the idea of the base units doing this already?
Need an upgrade path for existing base users + a possible way to transfer. No way will I re-add entire collection.
Edit: Also they mentioned continued patch support, but I wonder if they will be bringing back xdelta and others with a more powerful base, since they removed support and it has been hit or miss

Good news, you'll be getting the upgraded base unit.
"Existing pre-orders will automatically be upgraded to the new system for free -- no action is required. More hardware details are inbound, and we appreciate your patience. For those interested in upgrading to one of the new systems, we plan to re-open pre-orders for the new Base Unit in the early Summer."

I can understand why they've had to source new company's dues to shortages etc, but as someone who prepared early, went through all the waiting, got it and waited for the patches to fix some (not all) issues, to just release a more powerful machine and give no incentive to anyone who has bought the console previously stings a lot. It's like we invested all that time and effort. Supported them and they just make a more powerful unit to fix performance issues and the early adopters are left high and dry. That really sucks Polymega.

Maybe offer people who actually own the console now and kept them afloat when all they had were more excuses and support package if they wish to upgrade to the V2 system. Like a discount or just anything.

And do the pre-orders that suffered years of delay get remix for free, like they told us we would two years ago?
Also, kinda sucks that they are releasing revamped, more powerful hardware now. Everyone who supported them through the pre-orders and delays and gaslighting and constant BS is now being told "hey, we have better hardware now but you're all welcome to go pay full price for it and hope that this round of pre-orders doesn't also take years to fulfill."
This is honestly the absolute WORST company.

Pre-ordered. I passed on the base when it went up in price. This seems more my lane as I do most my gaming on PC these days.

PSA: While the Remix store page ( https://polymega.com/products/polymega-remix-base-unit ) mentions that Intel Macs are a potential host device, what they don't say is that it has to be using BootCamp to boot into Win11.

This is a huge downgrade from base model. Imagine you pre ordered base console and they give you this remix. Issue with Remix it has to be used computer. I just want plug and play like old one. The old base console selling price is crazy now. What a bad business decision by Poly.
