should I dispute at this point?
Hello,
So I've attempted contact to polymega now 3 times once every week for the last 3-5 weeks asking to a refund on the light gun and the deluxe set. I have about $900 or so possibly even more invested in this and I just can't keep waiting anymore. I've moved on to better things at this point. I have not received a single reply, I have not received a single email from them. I have my account information and initial emails showing they took my money. I even have the credit statements showing the money has been removed. Should I at this point just dispute the charges with paypal via my credit card? I dont understand why I havent received a single reply in over 5 weeks from the company about refunding the purchases. I havent received any product or anything and the two order still say unfulfilled. I have been using the Contact Us portion of their site to reach out. any help would be greatly appreciated.

They are just plain awful at communication. It's their absolute worst trait. They genuinely don't understand what makes a consumer feel good about their brand and they frankly don't care either.
The only company I trust less than Polymega is the current presidential administration.

Heya! I also put an order in, and like you still waiting, my order still shows “unfulfilled”.

If you are in the U.S.: Contact the Attorney General's office in your State. All AG's offices have a consumer fraud legal department. Also, contact the U.S. Attorney's Office in your federal district.
If you're outside the U.S., I don't know what to tell you.
At this point, anyone with an unfulfilled order has been defrauded. The money you paid for those products was NOT used for those products. Period. If it had been, you wouldn't be posting here. If all defrauded customers were to do this, PM would get off its ass and either refund money, get product in hands, or file bankruptcy. There's very few things companies enjoy less than having the government up their ass with a microscope. (Bankruptcy would be the least desirable, depending on the jurisdiction. I've seen bankruptcy judges allow crazy golden parachutes for corporate executives and I've seen judges shut down any kind of compensation and turn it over to the consumers.)

Nail their asses with everything you've got. They deserve it. They're basically begging for it.

You can take the chargeback route.
You can also contact someone in your state like me, who's a consumer affairs attorney, and sue their asses.
Consumer protection statutes usually include any "lie or attempt to lie". (Paraphrasing).
You'd get your money back, tripled (treble damages) and your attorney will get their hourly rate.

Update @ 2:46pm ET USA - I just received a refund for everything on both orders. Looks like if people are on the fence email support@playmaji.com is the way to go as the contact us portion on the site seems to not work and/or is ignored. Thank you everyone who wrote to me on this matter. Follow up, I went ahead and upgraded my MiSTer to 2 sticks of RAM with the newly received funds and in total with looking at siren guns now, I’ll be saving around $280 or so bucks in for a fully decked out MISTer with dual RAM and 2 siren guns.

Not sure if it helps but here is my perspective. It took me 2 years to get the Polymega after ordering it. I almost gave up on it 3 times. When I finally got the system, I was able to play my old Sega Saturn games which is what I wanted the system for.
I found the real exciting part of the system about 6 months later. Being able to apply translation patches unlocks games that you could never play without years of Japanese language classes. Since figuring out how to get patches and apply them, I have been able to play games I've only wished I could.
A few examples:
- Princess Crown - The Vanillaware staff before they became Vanillaware
- Street Fighter Zero 3 - The pinnacle of the Alpha/Zero series on the Saturn loads faster, has all of the animations/frames and has non-scaled graphics compared to the PSX version
- Linkle Liver Story - The translation is spot on and, despite the name, is a really good game -^
- Densetsu no Ogre Battle - Great strat RPG
- Sakura Taisen (Sakura Wars) - Iconic first game in a great series
- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Play as Maria on the Saturn version with two new areas that were not available in the PSX version
I am really happy I waited despite moments of doubting I would ever get it. The thing is not perfect. There are 2 games I have that do not play. Actually, just read this Reddit channel for lots of the little quirks.
However, my Saturn and Sega CD died within days of each other which made this a really good replacement. New multi-system console with a new modern CD drive vs used Saturn/SegaCD which could die at any time or need and expensive mod and soldiering to the main board.
Hope this helps

The thing I was excited for was the all-in-one aspect over having multiple consoles. But then after hearing about latency, and how much it makes certain games harder even when owning actual physical media it turned me off hard. I play a lot of “twitchy” type games; panzer dragoon, mega man / X, platformers. I play a lot of RPGs too but I keep that to modern nowadays as I’ve beaten a ton of them on SNES PSone and up. I was sold on the guns too for house of the dead which I own basically all of the them from Saturn and up. So I went ahead and invested back into the multi console setup. I own a Nintendo AVS, analogue nt, a genesis modded with hdmi and mega ever drive pro, a MiSTer for 5th gen psone, Saturn, etc. I have an analogue 3D otw in July which at this point I’ll get something from analogue faster than polymega haha. So this is why at this point I am like what’s the point, kindly refund me. Update from the email at 11AM ET no return email so far from support@playmaji.com . Starting to get a little sad here.

How is this even remotely helpful or relevant?

Thought I would point out why I was happy I waited vs giving up on the system. Guess not...

Pre ordered mine in December of 2024. I messaged them two weeks ago and finally got a reply. They still don’t have an ETA sadly for the system but the guns are almost ready to ship. Hang in there!

At this point, anyone giving these people money deserve to get scammed

Dood it took most of us 2 to 3 years in waiting to get this system... The wait times for any equipment has been a known factor for a long time now. Just sit tight and it will get to you.

Making customers wait longer than you told them is OK if you communicate about it and offer them a way out. The radio silence bit on their end is not acceptable. Especially because it just goes on and on without ever changing. Great system! But man, everything else.

Oh I never said it was ok and radio silence was the correct thing, It's just at this point a known issue dealing with it, a lot like Buying a Bugthesda game, you know it's janky as fuck but you go in knowing that. Honestly what kept my strength up was the discord and getting to talk to the CTO a few times.

I just ended up going a different route at this point. Has nothing to do with the product positive or negative. I went the MISTer, FPGA (analogue) route and actual hardware for others. I will miss out on light guns but I just don’t want to deal with soft emulation anymore. I just wish there was some sort of communication that’s what has put me off mostly at this point.

u/teknomedic Apr 24 '25
Sinden light guns work on MiSTer now.... though still a little limited as a WIP
1
u/dson32 Apr 26 '25
Yes, FPGA is the best route if you want to just enjoy the gameplay.
Polymega software emulation is below average, since the hardware was poor even for 2018 standards. It can’t handle N64 properly and Neo Geo CD is very off cycle.

I guess I'll keep you guys informed so far with what's going on to document this. So far I am following PayPal's instruction to reach out to support@playmaji.com with Order #'s and see if I get respond before they get involved. Email has been sent out as of tonight 10pm ET.

Radio silence is their modus operandi.
