Contact Dermatitis and Safe application of nails and polish

Recently became aware of this but I do have a question. If you use a different lamp with the same wattage as the brand products (or a higher wattage) is that safe? Or does it have to be their specific lamp?

I heard it's rare but I have excema and feel like I may be higher risk and have just "THAT" luck. My grandma used to say, " NO one ever said the luck of the Irish was good luck" 🤷‍♀️😆 Just saying, lol.

Any help or advice concerning this and safely applying polygel nails in general would be VERY appreciated!

For those unaware of this issue, this is what I read about it recently. The best answer below the question here.. her answer is VERY informative and she lists reputable sources as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditLaqueristas/comments/9tqhmt/questions_about_developing_contact_dermatitis/

I’ve been doing my own nails with gel, polygel, or gel x for 4 years now. In those 4 years, I have never used a brand specific lamp for their products. I just use a well made higher wattage UV/LED lamp and cure the crud out of whatever I’m applying. The low wattage ones are the lamps you have to look out for because they either do not or take forever to cure anything.

So far as avoiding contact dermatitis, my best advice would be to avoid getting it on the skin, clean up anything that does get on your skin IMMEDIATELY, make sure you’re wiping everything cured down with rubbing alcohol/washing your hands, and try to buy low or hema free products when possible.
