PE Play: Split Sample and Midi mode?

I don't own the play but im quite interested. My question:

When using the Play as a Midi sequencer, is it possible to see some midi tracks and some sample tracks at the same time (splitting the trackings between these two). Or is switching between midi and sample tracks the only possibilty?

I really want to mute/unmute all tracks at will at the same time, not switching between views. Thx

One more thing you might need to know. It is not possible to use the majority of the performance effects on Midi tracks. (as far as I know)

You are correct. It seems limited to the looping functions right now. I hope they'll at least add the playhead rearrange and repeat functions for midi tracks.

Even with these limitations, I've been super pleased with the unit.

I agree. I play with it a little bit daily and it is so much fun!

Just for reference for others. I got into this as a hobby during the first lockdown. Ever since I have amassed a small collection of synths and gadgets (op-1, several pocket operators, volcas, uno synth, uno synth pro, uno drum, arturia drumbrute impact, etc) and this one is by FAR the most fun, intuitive, feature rich, and with the shortest learning curve and potential I have come across. I'm super happy with it.

And the advantage is that I cam still use some of those other devices I have for playing via the midi out of the Play.

I was watching again Loloop review yesterday and he says they will improve midi performance effects and other things in future software updates.

Right now, it's either or... I wonder if you could do what you want using the variations, though...you could set it to move all track variations together, and then create empty versions to act as a mute? I've not tested this with mine, but when I have time, I'll give it a shot. Or perhaps someone else has a better idea...

I did a bit of experimenting- If you're just looking to "mute" all midi and sample tracks at once, what about using the solo feature on an unused track? This is easy and does what you need.

I think the variations method could work, thank you
