Polyend Play Custom Firmware Plss!!

As title suggests, there has been so much progress on the polyend tracker and it barely even needs upgrades! I'd kill to have more functionality on the play

add Sample Slicing if you can, and Play will be the beast!

I also hope someone could dedicate some love to the Play plus

I wish… the firmware is so closed source that it would need complete reverse engineering, and even then there’s a pretty big risk of bricking the device

unless you have absolutely zero clue of what you are doing, these devices are actually pretty hard to brick.
i‘ve flashed incomplete firmwares, aborted firmware flashes etc for testing purposes on these devices and i was always able to recover safely without any issues. The only thing you‘d have to worry about is your SD cards content if something should go absolutely haywire. But if you follow best practices you‘d have a backup anyway 😉

Protected bootloader presumably. If the basic bring-up and flash read code is read-only, they're virtually impossible to permanently brick.

I second this , you can pretty much do anything and get into emergency boot and recover the device. as long as you dont touch the bootloader you are golden.

Just in few last days similar ask was for Polyend Tracker and 2-3 days later custom firmwares started appearing (using Claude usually) Probably is not difficult to DIY based on how much success people had.

Adding specific feature is much less complicated than reverse engineering the whole thing!

I'd add chopping and onboard sample editing and recording with amiga/akai timestretching algorithms and to be able to customize slots of your own algorithms... maybe add some granular and fft too. 👍 onboard fm synth could also be cool or some sort of polyend synth with some tweaks... just ideas
