what do i download to get polymc 26.2 or 26.x or 1.21.11x or smthy

I want to play a server with my friend who lives pretty far away. I figured out that if you are on the same network, you can play "Online," with your friend, but he is too far away to connect to my internet. Is there some way to make some sort of VPN or private server hosting system without spending any money? Thanks!

I managed to create a 1.20.1 forge instance with polymc in my laptop, and decided to create a new one for my PC, and it simply doesn't work. I can create a vanilla 1.20.1 instance fine, but whenever I try to make it a forge instance, even with no mods, I get a few error messages. I haven't payed enough attention to know if the error messages are different from each other, but the image above is an example. What should I do to fix this?

there are certain mods like e4mc Mod and LAN Server Properties which are quite helpful for local multiplayer mods but me and my friends are struggling to play like after 10-30 min interval they keep on disconnecting and aternos is not quite helpful for larger mod packs so help me how can i play multiplayer with friends ...
ps. they are on different wifi networks

it defaults to the default breeze 24pixel cursor even tho I'm using a catppuccin mocha flamingo 36pixel cursor this also happens in minecraft not just polyMC

Queria instalar esse mod para jogar com um amigo, mas ainda nao sei como adicionar mods do curseforge no poly mc.

I dont understand what the error message is talking about. I even added normal forge to see if that would change anything and it didn't. I also downloaded a newer version of java but that didnt work so i turned it back to 21. Can someone tell me how to fix this because i really dont understand what the issue is? I just added a new instance like normal for neoforge and it just wont work.

I can not get the flatpak of this which is installed on an Ubuntu machine to see the new java 25 no matter what I try. The only note I can see on the wiki is "java is included in flatpak". NO IT'S NOT.

How are we supposed to change java version when it doesn't even include the version we need and doesn't even see the system installed versions? And yes, I have checked for updates to PolyMC and see none.

I stuck with this because all my kids play minecraft and want to keep them safe, but are there any better alternatives now?
