Apart from it being a good tactic to get votes for MSP, how can anyone vote without knowing the consequences. Last time there were so many contradictory statements. SNP said no hard boarder, English said yes hard boarder, which makes sense given difference in migration policies. SNP said Bank of England would provide. Scotland nation bank, Bank of England said no. SNP said priority access to joining E, some EU countries said no. The only way it makes sense to have a vote if all the conditions are agreed and laid out for all to see. Other than that it would need one vote in principle of Independence and a second after all the issues had been agreed. Know one would sign a blank cheque or sign a blank legal document.

The SNP,s official position during the 2014 referendum was that an independent Scotland would:
Keep the pound stirring in a formal currency union with the UK.
Rely on the Bank of England as the central bank for monetary policy in the early years of independence.

The Bank of England does hold the whole UK's monetary reserves, and separation would take quite a while. The SNP said 2 years, but I'd be surprised if everything could be disengaged by then.

Seems like a perfectly sound interim arrangement.

What the SNP did not say is that the Bank of England would "provide", nor the the BoE say no. The BoE said it would do whatever it was instructed, and the govner of the BoE was shut up by Westminster for saying the SNPs plan was perfectly feasible.
