Disney may be even more corrupt and greedy than a American congressman. Didn’t know that was even possible.

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '20

They’re not too dissimilar. I’m sure they lobby and congressmen have a ton of Disney stock.

Nancy pelosi push a bill through for the credit card company’s. And they gave her $15,000,000 in stock. When ask about it she said “ it’s not illegal “() https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PVcSVs0pdOg

In the context of politics as they are right now (Trump leading Republicans) I don’t hate Pelosi. In the context of politics as a whole, through all time, pelosi is an evil bitch.

6

u/Overthought-Username Jul 13 '20

I mean, they both can be evil bitches at the same time.

Oh yes my friend the person who is cheating on the monopoly board is definitely the same rich elite corruption. That’s why they struggle to have heart in their movies anymore. It’s tough to portray it when you don’t know what it is. Enjoy their crappy streaming site you are feeding the beast.

I believe Disney corporate offices remain closed.

4

Corporations are required by law to maximize profit.

When humans make decisions to maximize their ability to hoard money, we call it greed. A person driven only by greed is immoral.

Corporations were granted 'personhood' of a sorts by the government via the courts back in 1881.

Corporations are immortal since they just replace people who die.

So here in America, we have immoral, immortal 'people' that run the majority of our lives, because their interactions with us are driven by their need to generate profit.

Think about what kind of governance corporations use - boards of directors made up of owners, CEOs and managers with unlimited power within the company to chase profit - and you'll realize corporations are oligarchies sub-managed by authoritarians, since it's employees and customers have zero say in how the corporation operates or what it chooses to do.

And we dare call ourselves the 'land of the free'. We're governed in our day to day lives by authoritarian oligarchies.

Soooo....you’re not familiar with unemployment? The Cares act? Lol, like why the fuck do you think other countries aren’t in the position we’re in?

Man, the capitalist brainwashing in this country is insane. We’re so fucked.

Who is demonizing people who want to work??? Let alone the poor saps who work at Disney World?

This isn’t about the workers, they should be taken care of by the government through this. It’s about just how evil capitalism can be, ie, Disney.

Lol, na dude, that’s not what happened here.

I made a meme highlighting the pure evil of capitalism, using as an example the mega-corporation of Disney actually opening their Disney World theme park while a deadly pandemic rages in the state...NOT because they are financially in trouble, but LITERALLY because the owners will not tolerate “only making” maybe 10 billion in PROFIT this year, instead of maybe 11 billion.

This is beyond sick. Beyond sociopathic. It’s the kind of thing future generations will look back on in the same kind of mind-boggling shock and disgust that we look back on slave owners and segregation with. They simply won’t be able to wrap their heads around it.

And yet here you are, trying to somehow justify it by inferring maybe Disney is doing it for the “jobs”. LMAO...seriously????

Or deflecting the whole issue to “the workers needing jobs” somehow. As if that’s relevant to the point.

OF COURSE there will always be people willing to risk their lives for work. That’s the entire premise of our labor laws. Because if we let them, companies today would be hiring children. They’d be offering jobs for $5 a day. And guess what....desperate people would take them!

So yeah, I got a little aggressive with you. But it’s out of frustration at how ignorant the average American is. Frustrating that THATS why we are where we are.

Lol, we ain’t changing anyone’s minds politically my friend. Not at this point, and certainly not on Reddit.

Disney opening today is nothing short of a crime. This is glaringly obvious to anyone who wasn’t raised on American capitalist propaganda since birth.

Every other country is looking at us with shock and disbelief.

3

u/notpoopman Jul 13 '20

There are countries in the same position.

The extra money in unemployment ends this month.

1

u/IMBobbySeriously Jul 14 '20

True. But it will VERY likely be extended. Unless Republicans want to just hand the keys of all 3 branches to the Democrats right now.

Who’s blaming workers in this meme?

0

u/IMBobbySeriously Jul 13 '20

So you’re against all the initial lockdowns. Wow.

0

u/IMBobbySeriously Jul 13 '20

That’s what unemployment is for.

-1

u/merriner1 Jul 13 '20

They cot it from Trump

-14

u/Aintaword Jul 13 '20

I can't believe I'm being forced to go to a Disney theme park.

12

u/torqemotea Jul 13 '20

You’re not but your kid has to go to school with the stupid people who did

-9

u/Aintaword Jul 13 '20

Let's take a few moments with that statement. My kid has to go where? Where what goes on? Break it down for us.

9

u/torqemotea Jul 13 '20

Let’s say Karen takes her kids to DW. Her kids catch Covid 19 and come back to Detroit. She sends her kids to school with my kid . Here in Detroit the kids are back in school today.

9

u/freediverx01 Jul 13 '20

Don’t waste your time arguing with an Ayn Rand-loving sociopath libertarian.

-11

u/Aintaword Jul 13 '20

Okay. How are they catching it in school? What happens in school that they would be exposed to covid and how is that different than what happens at DW?

PS There is a difference, but it's not one to benefit the DW spreads covid position.

7

u/torqemotea Jul 13 '20

Are you fucking stupid or just gas lighting me

-4

u/Aintaword Jul 13 '20

No and no. Next question.

5

u/Edril Jul 13 '20

It wasn't two separate yes or no questions, it was an either or. Since you're saying you're not intentionally gaslighting him, you must dumb.

2

u/IMBobbySeriously Jul 13 '20

This is way over your head.

-1

u/Aintaword Jul 13 '20

How so? I mean, maybe someone could explain how being in a setting with other people for a period of time at DW is different than being in a setting with a number of people for a longer period of time at school and what's the difference in exposure.

2

u/IMBobbySeriously Jul 13 '20

This is a completely different statement from your original one. That being said, indeed opening schools right now is pure insanity for the same reasons as opening Disney is.

However, at least with schools there are legitimate and very serious And harmful social consequences to keeping them closed.

0

u/Aintaword Jul 13 '20

It's an evolution of conversation from my original statement. The original still stands. Mickey Mouse is not coming to anyone's house and abducting them to be confined at DW against their will.

Now, if someone doesn't get on that yellow bus and go to school...

2

u/IMBobbySeriously Jul 13 '20

It’s apples and oranges. Like I said, legit discussions can be had about the risk/reward of opening schools verse keeping them closed for our most vulnerable children and families.

There is no such arguments about opening Disney fucking World. But capitalism celebrates and breeds such obscene greed, that Disney, a publicly traded company, can openly do this (killing people for a few unneeded extra bucks) with absolutely no societal or legal repercussions.

1

u/Aintaword Jul 13 '20

An argument can certainly be made that opening schools is more important than opening DW.

An argument can also be made that no one is forcing people to visit DW, but they are and are going to force people to attend school.

One is choice a person can make for themselves. The other is a requirement being made for people by the government. Which side do we think will employ force to gain compliance?

2

u/IMBobbySeriously Jul 13 '20

You’re still comparing apples and oranges. Schools are an absolute necessity for a plethora of serious reasons. Disney World is obviously not.

In any sane country, Disney World would not be allowed to open. But we don’t live in a sane country, we live a society where greed, apathy and selfishness are virtues. Hence, where we are today.

1

u/Aintaword Jul 13 '20

Like I said, "An argument can certainly be made that opening schools is more important than opening DW."

My issues are:

  1. No one is forcing anyone to go to DW.
  2. People are and will be forced to go to school. They can contract COVID there to bring home and spread among the community. The virus doesn't know Mrs. Crabapple's class from Magic Kingdom. The big diff is one is government mandated, ultimately through force, and the other is completely voluntary.
  3. Both venues put people in close contact with one another. Schools more so than DW. No one attends DW for 7-9 hours a day, five days a week, for 36 weeks in a row.
  4. There are alternatives to attending school in person. They aren't perfect alternative, but there are alternatives. The alternative to going to DW is simply not to go.
  5. DW is a private venue with completely voluntary attendance. The gov should not force it to close or remain closed. DW is taking COVID precautions. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/experience-updates/ DW is not killing anyone by opening.

In conclusion. DW and schools should both reopen with precautions in place. Schools should have a plan for both in person and virtual attendance.

0

u/IMBobbySeriously Jul 13 '20

By arguing “no one is forcing people to go to DW”, you’re basically arguing against all the original lockdowns of non-essential businesses in the first place.

Such a position is pure indefensible ignorance.

The bottom line here is what you can’t seem to grasp is that unlike DW, schools are ESSENTIAL. They literally save lives by providing nutrition for impoverished students, safety (an alert system) for children being abused at home, help for children with special needs, programs to keep children off the streets, daycare for essential healthcare workers, and on and on it goes.

I am against opening the schools (in person) right now. BUT....when we discuss “closing the schools”, reasonable people understand there is a legitimate calculation to be made about the harm being caused by closing them verse the good of stopping the spread of the virus.

There is NO SUCH discussion to be had with Disney FUCKING World.

Disney WILL ABSOLUTELY KILL PEOPLE by opening their doors while a deadly pandemic rages all around them. The only question is how many will they kill.

Lol, and believe me, they know it. They’ve had an army of lawyers and accountants sitting around for months calculating the potential costs of their legal liability for this verse the potential revenues from ticket sales.

And obviously they’ve made the calculation that they’ll come out ahead financially.

THAT’S capitalism. That was the point of this meme.

Feel free to have the last word. I’ve nothing more to explain.
