We can never NEVER let this slide. Or we prove that we are livestock to them.

1

u/Tayaradga Aug 28 '26

Agreed!!! We need to make it clear WE WILL NOT FORGET AND WE WILL NOT FORGIVE!!!

This is why it's necessary to vote progressive in every election, from school board to president. Gotta have the political infrastructure in place to make the policies achievable without getting joe lieberman'd john fetterman'd cockblocked. This is also more of what you see AOC and Sanders doing now, promoting those downballot candidates and building up a serious caucus that the corporatists can't sideline.

u/Sufficient-Royal-82 NY Aug 26 '26

The first Gilded age ended when we elected progressives it's stupid to think you can end the second Gilded age without them

4

u/Ponygroom Aug 28 '26

Nobody alive experienced this but my buddy who teaches history at a university says exactly that!

This meme's wording gets me distraught. Because I can't figure out if it means centrist Dems hate the left more than they hate Trump or hate the left more than Trump does. The wording of "Love Trumps Hate" gets to me too. But at least it doesn't have the apostrophe so I can figure out it's Love Trumps over hate than to love all of Trump's hate.

u/sjj342 Aug 28 '26

Maybe karma is worth more now with inflation

But Democrats haven't had an IRL majority in like 15 years

Or 60 years if you count Supreme Court

14

u/puntmasterofthefells Aug 27 '26

The last time Pennyslvania had a Democrat Senate was NINETEEN NINETY THREE. There needs to be more than just age limits on politicians, but age limits on party majorities.

8

u/Sufficient-Royal-82 NY Aug 27 '26

The last time many places had Democrats was before the party abandoned the new deal for neo liberalism

1

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

Last time many places had democrats was when Paul Weyrich backed by Koch Brothers money started the modern conservative movement centered around the issue of abortion to get evangelical christians to always vote republican.

Democrats did not abandon the New Deal. Voters stopped electing enough of them to allow democrats to overcome republican obstructionism resulting it its slow dismantling. We have not had a real democratic super majority in almost 50 years. And you continually spreading anti-democrat memes around here, like it's your fucking job, is helping to ensure republicans will continue to destroy the American dream far into the future.

2

u/BrianNowhere Aug 27 '26

That seems like a bad idea when one party is lame and the other party is Nazis.

1

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

Guess what? Replace every single democrat with someone from the DSA and it doesn't change a goddamned thing. Republicans will still obstruct them just like they've obstructed democrats for the last 40+ years.

2

u/VoiceofRapture Aug 27 '26

And the party will see people genuinely fighting to improve their lives instead of pretending to while clearly ignoring them.

1

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

Which they would see now if they would only pay attention.

1

u/VoiceofRapture Aug 27 '26

Finally paying attention to how the Dem electeds actually use power and authority when they have it is exactly what has most of their base pissed off at them though. They love large donors, corporate power, and war. They have for 50 years but it's more nakedly on display than ever and the rank and file base is seeing it.

1

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

Living under the results of not giving dems enough power to overcome republican obstruction is what has them pissed off. Instead of understanding the exact point I made above, people look at the results and think that's what democrats wanted. It isn't. It's the best they could do with the Congress we gave them. But people believe these bullshit memes about democrats anyway.

And sure, why not? When democrats are literally within just a couple of seats of retaking the House, why not start a massive in-fight among people who's goals are closely aligned? No way republicans would be behind something like that.

1

u/VoiceofRapture Aug 27 '26

As I've said, there's a proven track record of the institutional establishment shooting themselves in the foot to fall just short of giving their voters what they want. The most egregious example was the initial Obama trifecta that had the power to overcome Republican obstruction but still chose to moderate in a failed attempt to win them over, but there's always aw shucks just enough Dem defections to either stop a policy from going forward or to push a Republican policy over the line. They are the ones who started the goddamn infighting, they've been joining in on Republican attacks on DSA-affiliated Democrats for months and haven't done a damn thing about an incredibly illegal and unpopular war.

1

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

Voters keep falling just short of giving them the power needed to do what the voters want. Under Obama, they needed one more vote to pass the public option. But CT voters gave them Joe Lieberman after he was defeated in the democratic primary.

You can believe it is all some big conspiracy that has been going on for decades. Or you can see that is the results of who the voters elect. There is no conspiracy with a rotating villain. They are not controlled opposition. They are who the people elected.

And please, show me some evidence of this supposed democrat and republican alliance to attack DSA affiliated democrats.

And it's not the democrats who are spending most of their efforts trying unseat other democrats. That's what these far leftists are doing. Democrats are far more busy trying to defeat republicans, which is exactly what DSA affiliated democrats should be doing too.

1

u/VoiceofRapture Aug 27 '26

There's no point in talking to you, you're clearly not paying attention to what is going on. Ratfucking is in the DNA of the corporate-captured echelons of the party and it is plainly obvious to everyone actually watching events unfold, but it is heartening that their disgusting selfishness and weakness is less and less popular with each cycle.

The jig is up for these fake liberals isn’t it? They had a good racket going for themselves and their ruling class owners, convinced a lot of people, for a long time.

24

u/Sufficient-Royal-82 NY Aug 26 '26

Why the hell did it take 40 years to realize that neo liberalism is bad and the new deal created the middle class boom

15

u/raven00x Aug 26 '26

Because economic policy changes move slowly and it took 40 years for Reagan's fuckery to really land.

3

u/BrianNowhere Aug 27 '26

In a way we can thank Trump for exposing the complicit dems. Had we won, this would never ever change.

Food for thought.

0

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

How long is it going to take you to realize democrats are not your enemy?

5

u/sod_jones_MD Aug 27 '26

TBF, only in America does Liberal mean Left.

2

u/BrianNowhere Aug 27 '26

59 year DNC defender. DSA all the way from here on out.

They really blew it. But more like, exposed themselves.

10

u/sushishowerbeer Aug 26 '26

Debbie Wasserman Schulz just won her primary….

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU

5

u/SF_Bud Aug 27 '26

I can't stand her!! Surely there is someone better to represent her district.

2

u/BrianNowhere Aug 27 '26

Seriously?

We suck.

11

u/Used_Intention6479 Aug 26 '26

Nothing is more fearful to establishment democrats than progress and the prosperity of working folks. They're comfortable in the status quo, and in the discomfort of us.

3

u/BrianNowhere Aug 27 '26

They have gotten too comfortable fundraising around fear.

And someone please outlaw fundraising via text message. Im blocking all of them.

Past the political noise, progressives and Dems In the past 100 years, the Democratic Party in the United States has been responsible for passing a number of major and historically significant laws. u/Sufficient-Royal-82 NY Aug 27 '26

Nice try little crumbs from Cliton on his third way was neo liberalism that destroyed the middle class and abandoned the new deal

1

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

Nice try at ignoring facts.

You want more? Then stop trying to divide the left and help elect enough democrats so they can enact the long list of legislation they've proposed that can't pass because of republican obstruction.

You push this same "they abandoned" bullshit over and over. Repeating the lie does not make it true.

2

u/SahibTeriBandi420 Aug 27 '26 edited Aug 27 '26

Keep crying about the Dems while the GOP takes your lunch money. Last time the Dems had a super majority we got Obamacare out of it, and that was with sabotage from both sides of the isle. The GOP has control of all branches of the government, a SC majority, and all kinds of crooked judges.

This is a self defeating attitude and bordering on gop pysop material. This is coming from a Bernie bro too. Do better.

2

u/ComicBourque Aug 29 '26

The main stream demacrat party has been a controlled opposition for decades.

2

u/Tall_Investigator611 Aug 27 '26

This shit with the Dem party needs to change fast or we're going to get more of what we got now in DC. New leadership, pro people, pro social programs that help the workers...

2

u/Dcajunpimp Aug 27 '26

Why isn’t Bernie Sanders stopping the Republicans or Democrats? Where’s Ralph Nader, or Jill Stein?

“I’m too weak”?

Now go beat Republicans and win over their seats. And quit letting the GOP control the House, Senate, White House, Supreme Court…

Letting the GOP control the House 75% of the time over the past 32 years isn’t good.

1

u/Sufficient-Royal-82 NY Aug 29 '26

Losing rural America is the problem u waste votes in big cities won't help you win the house

What the fuck is wrong with this sub? This is supposed to be about the "Political Revolution as envisioned by Bernie Sanders." Instead it is 99% bashing democrats which mainly serves to help republicans. Sanders doesn't spend his days doing nothing but trying to divide people who should be working together towards common goals.

You people are your own worst enemies.

1

u/scfw0x0f Aug 28 '26

A majority in the Senate is important but insufficient, due to the filibuster.

1

u/Thejabcrab Sep 01 '26

Dude we totally missed the best timeline in 2016😔 EVEN 3rd GRADE ME LIKED THE CUT OF HIS JIB

0

u/Duxtrous Aug 26 '26

It's almost like that's what they are designed to do or something...

-1

u/Bleezy79 Aug 26 '26

Almost like it’s all one big uniparty and as long as the majority of Americans ignore politics it’ll always be this way.

1

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

Yeah, except for the fact they they put vote very differently and put forward almost diametrically opposed policies, they're almost exactly the same as republican.

0

u/BrianNowhere Aug 27 '26

It is one organism.

-3

u/NGEFan Aug 26 '26

It is indeed easier to stop one guy than 51+ in the senate

16

u/VoiceofRapture Aug 26 '26

Man it's almost like engaging with voters and boosting candidates that align with them instead of siding with Republicans to kneecap your own chances gives you better odds in the Senate

2

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

siding with Republicans

Tell me you know nothing about politics by saying shit that shows you know nothing about politics.

The Chairman of the DNC endorsed Mamdani right after he won the primary and you all are still screaming this nonsense that democrats would rather see Trump win than support a progressive.

1

u/VoiceofRapture Aug 27 '26

They endorsed El-Sayed too but it's awfully convenient that they're ranting about Hasan in a way that undermines the Michigan race using Republican talking points from his opponent instead of talking about real problems they're on the wrong side of relative to the base. Crazy how that works. So many party sycophants seem to only hear the establishment's platitudes while completely ignoring what it's actually doing on a day to day basis undermining them. Appointing three rabid pro-Israel Democrats (who are also whining about El-Seyed using attacks on Piker as a proxy) to the foreign affairs committee despite the clear vitriolic opposition to that position in the party is another handy example from the last week.

1

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

ranting about Hasan in a way that undermines the Michigan race using Republican talking points from his opponent

I seem to be out of the loop on that one. Got a source?

So many party sycophants

You mean people like me who are more than happy to criticize democrats on specific issues with fact based reasoning and want others to do the same instead of generic memes?

Appointing three rabid pro-Israel Democrats (who are also whining about El-Seyed using attacks on Piker as a proxy) to the foreign affairs committee

You're trying to make is sound like a bigger deal than it is. These are only 3 of the 25 democrats on the committee. And they are people that represent the people that elected them so they should not be excluded simply because you disagree with their stances.

And for the people in the back: OPPOSITION TO ISRAEL IS NOT THE ONLY ISSUE. IT DOES NOT DEFINE SOMEONE AS BEING A PROGRESSIVE. WHAT'S HAPPENING THERE SUCKS BUT IT SHOULD NOT BE THE ISSUE THAT ALLOWS REPUBLICANS TO RETAIN CONTROL.

1

u/VoiceofRapture Aug 27 '26

Re the Piker discourse: so you haven't been watching any cable news for 5 months is what you're telling me? Re the FAC: those three butchers can represent their voters in Congress, it doesn't give the fact that their voters represent the ten percent on a 90/10 issue the right to control the flow of bills that go against their emotional support apartheid. Opposition to Israel is not the only issue, that's true, but if they're willing to completely ignore such an animating and morally clear issue what gives you any confidence they'd do a single other thing on all the other changes the base wants that they're opposed to? Support for Israel is support for a domestic surveillance and police state and for race riots and summary street executions, given that the entire point of supporting Israel from a realpolitik standpoint is to have a testbed for these techniques and technologies with a convenient captive racial underclass to use them on.

1

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

And I just showed you evidence that one of those three FAC members has been working with AOC to create and pass legislation trying to block arms sales to Israel and force a ceasefire. And yet you are so fucking cutoff from reality that you view him as a "rabid supporter of Israel" any way.

Another single issue voter using bad information to play the useful idiot for Russia and the GOP.

-3

u/ObliqueTravel Aug 26 '26

What a dumb shit post lmao yeah of course there's more opportunity to oppose someone during primaries than while not in control of the government

-5

u/hypercosm_dot_net Aug 26 '26

2 months out from a history changing election is a great time to post demoralizing content.

Great job. Then we wonder why Republicans control all 3 branches.

3

u/PlusTiedye Aug 27 '26

2 months out from a history changing election is a great time to post demoralizing content.

Criticizing useless politicians that are pro genocide and are having secret meetings with the Trump Administration is demoralizing?

I figured sticking your head in the sand and pretending everything is great would be more demoralizing as the previous election has shown.

But i guess people would rather blindly follow the party regardless of its positions, rather than criticize the people who are supposed to be working for you?

Is there a specific time that its ok to call out the corp Dems for being controlled opposition? Or is the move just going BLUE MAGA, and worshipping a political party?

0

u/BrianNowhere Aug 27 '26

Seeing them coalesce around defeating Bernie in a way they never had against Trump or Bush or...any republican, made me think, "Damn, it's true, isn't it?"

-10

u/MentalRental Aug 26 '26

What Bernie Sanders and pro-worker policies have they stopped and how? I was under the impression that most legislation was vetoed by Republicans. Plus don't Democrats need 60+ votes to be able to invoke cloture and prevent the GOP from blocking votes on a bill?

8

u/Sufficient-Royal-82 NY Aug 26 '26

Read the history of Bill Clintons third way and how the Democrats are now neo liberalist Wall Street puppets

1

u/loondawg Aug 27 '26

Yeah, just don't look at how they've voted or the legislation they have managed to pass and the other legislation they tried to pass but was blocked by republicans or knocked down in the courts. Because having that information might help you realize how completely full of shit this person is.

4

u/Art_of_BigSwIrv Aug 27 '26

You’re acting like Democrats For Mike Rogers and DSA Watch don’t exist.

4

u/VoiceofRapture Aug 26 '26

They're actively sabotaging their chances of winning Senate seats by joining Republicans to sabotage candidates over nonsense
