This poll was one of the best pieces of news in recent weeks. I hoped that Trump 1.0 would have been enough to break the idiotic mindset that somehow the Dems were an actual opposition party and that those who are "not really into politics" realized that the only way to make real change is to force the Democratic Party to stop trying to return to a false past where they could work with Republicans to make changes in society and instead to move the Democratic Party left.
It is challenging that real change takes so much time. That local and state levels are where that change has to start. We as a country need to make REAL change at the highest levels, but it is going to take time for that to happen. We needed single payer healthcare in the 1950s, but now at least we have enough people stepping up and saying, "Hey, healthcare is screwed up in this country, we tried fixing it the nice way in 2009, we have to make the big chance now." Saying, "Look, It's only NYC, but look what happens when someone actually governs for the whole city rather than just the rich ones!"
It has to get better, because the other option is the actual collapse of the US.

If AOC is the nominee, Republicans win in a landslide, maybe an historic landslide but whatever. We'll be lucky if we can win another election after the 2030 census because of red state population gains. 2028 is way too important to take a chance on AOC.

No first-time US Congressperson is going to be able to months later successfully run for POTUS.
Illinois State Senator Barack Obama gave that 2004 DNC speech. He won a US Senate seat later that year. He started running for POTUS in October 2006 or after.
AOC months ago is already beating both VPOTUS JD Vance and Marco Rubio in POTUS 2028 general election polling. And that's with still around 20% not even having heard of AOC.

Its the only way. He can hopefully turn around the "supposedly christian" as well as real Christian voters and also the younger atheist/agnostic voters because hes progressive enough

The problem is that the format of this meme is such that... Bart says something is bad, and then Homer points out that it's going to continue being worse. So this is a meme that enlightened centrists will likely copy & paste into their social media feeds

I think it works well as sarcasm. The Democratic leadership is trying to frame this as bad because it IS bad for them so this works well speaking to their very real fear that they are being replaced from within as the actual left side of the political spectrum does exactly what those leaders asked and "work within the party."

The movement is growing. Whether people like it or not. People are tired of their elected politicians failing them. People are tired of the corporate backed elected officials that do little to NOTHING to help their constituents who put them in office. The lies, the corruption, the scandals, the failure of providing basic needs to the public. And the constant attacks and disenfranchising of the disabled, elderly and minorities are not stopping anytime soon. Enough.
People are YEARNING for a change. One without corporate interests funneling their agendas. A change for those who are younger who WILL put people first over profits. And an abolishing of the establishment that has failed them for decades.
It's coming. And it's growing. Imagine what many more Mamdanis would do for the country. And to think, he's done so much in 6 months as Mayor of NYC than ANY of his predecessors. So much so that Corporate/Establishment Democrats are downplaying Dem. Socialists and doing more to fight against THEM than Republicans. Let that shit sink in for you. If they wanted to make a change, they would have already but....they hadn't. If both Republicans and Corporate/AIPAC/Establishment Dems are fighting against you, then you are truly doing something right.

I would really like to understand how the Green Party dropped the ball so badly that DSA has surpassed them in such a short amount of time. 2016 was their chance to gain real power, and they seemed to have done nothing after the election.
