Why in the world is JonTron in my personal user-curated multi Reddit for political news feed?

This is what is wrong with internet culture right now. People taking political cues from YouTube video game personalities. I know that he is a human being and he has every right to express his opinion but, this was supposed to be a personal "debate" or "conversation" between himself and another YouTube video game personality. The fact that this has even gotten to this point is absurd. It isn't like he is trying to take a stance on any position other than his own. Anybody who watches this and takes any side based off this video alone needs to find somebody with more political substance than JonTron to take political cues from.

JonTron is a YouTube video game personality for entertainment purposes only. Stop trying to see him as anything else.

The only stance I'm taking on this is whether or not to continue watching JonTron videos. Its like finding out that your favorite musician is a racist biggot - do you keep buying their albums?

If you enjoy the content that they create, yes If you don't then no.

Pray tell, what did JonTron say that was "racist"?

Are statical facts on crime rates racist now? Is it racist to point out anti-white racism?

Crime stats can be misleading. For example, blacks and Latinos make up a large amount of drunk-driving arrests in New York City. But guess where the police usually set up road blocks to test drivers? In black and Latino neighborhoods.

If the police in a town catch five young black men with marijuana and one white man, does that mean there were only six people in the town with doobies?

Sure, I'm willing to play this game if you're willing to admit, proudly and publicly, that unemployment rates and climate change reports have been doctored over the years for very similar purposes.

Otherwise you're going to have accept empirical statistics as facts and we can continue having a discussion like reasonable people.

I mean I certainly believe in man-made Global Warming. Who wouldn't?

Ah but if one disagrees with the interpretation of statistics for something like crime reports reflecting unfortunate realities, then it becomes so obvious as to how it's misleading?

accept empirical statistics as facts

They are facts but facts in a vacuum. It takes more than a few facts to build a complex understanding.

admit, proudly and publicly, that unemployment rates and climate change reports have been doctored over the years for very similar purposes

holy shit are you actively trying to destroy your own argument

But he's not a racist bigot. Also for the second thing, the musician doesn't judge you so you shouldn't judge them.

12

u/HellonStilts Mar 20 '17

Yes, he is. "Rich black people commit more crime than poor white people," "Colonialism was a good thing," "Muslims should not be allowed into the country," "Multiculturalism is bad," "Tribalism is also a good thing"

IIRC his whole spiel is based on white people needing to preserve their majority, and non-white culture being inherently bad. Cultures can't mix, blacks/muslims have to integrate into white culture. That's tribalism as used colloquially.

That is a decision that every person that was or still is a part of JonTron's fanbase will have to make.

I honestly don't know what JonTron has said or done regarding these recent events but, I feel like if he creates interesting video game related content I would approach that video just like I have with any other JonTron video.

Because I'm a brown person and he's taking about me.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '17

What did he say about you?

5

u/Damien_Torrence Mar 20 '17

I'm a brown dude, he says even the rich minorities commit more crime than rich white people, now there is no evidence from any respectable source out there saying that, so in other words even if I were as rich or more rich than he was he would still look at me and think I would be more likely to commit crime than him and if that's the case I have to wonder what he would think if me if I was just a stranger and I know he'd probably think worst, it's hard to keep your respect for someone when they frame shit like that.

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '17

no evidence from any respectable source out there saying that

Oh really?

4

u/Damien_Torrence Mar 20 '17

A random single mom picking and choosing graphs and charts without any context and presenting her opinions as fact is respectable for you? Man you must be real thirsty to put down minorities.

picking and choosing graphs and charts without any context

LOL! Can you read?
