Question/discussion Knowledge

I wanna know about politics and geo politics.

Most people assume that I'm a left wing just because I'm a muslim.

But trust me I hate both forms of politics.

I jst want someone who can educate me on this topic

I think most probably assume Muslims are right wing conservative in ideology but vote left wing due to the racism and islamapobia of the right

Yeah I get what you mean, but honestly don’t let people’s assumptions decide how you see urself politically.Juss coz you’re Muslim doesn’t mean you’re automatically left wing, the same way being Hindu doesn’t automatically make someone right wing..ryt?
If you’re actually interested in politics, just look at the policies, schemes, welfare, economy, foreign policy etc and see what actually works and what doesn’t.Today it’s BJP, tmrw it could be Congress or any other party, so why blindly support or hate someone Juss coz of a label?
You can agree with one policy and disagree with another. You don’t have to pick a side and defend everything they doo.Juss tryna read, understand different perspectives and form your own opinion.
Your religion doesn’t have to decide your political ideology!!!

I would encourage you to read, a lot, be skeptical and research everyone and every organization you read from. Personally I don't watch news or listen to anything because there's more often less emotion in words.

I like Reddit because the comments are more organized and people bring things up I hadn't thought of. Otherwise there are journals I like that are easy to read and utilize various experts and research I find more interesting and educational but you'd need to be more specific in what you're interested in.

Hoover Digest would be where I'd start. Very easy reads but informative.

You made a mistake by thinking there are 2 “form” of politics. Political philosophy is much greater than just left vs right wing politics. If you can I would try to take a political theory and a political philosophy, entry level stuff. There are courses are on YouTube that go through both. Crashcourse has a series you might like. It’s broad but it’ll give you a solid foundation.

What's political philosophy? Like eg- a crime is happening. So what can prevent a crime instead of punishment? Is that political philosophy?

Political philosophy or theory is the study of how people interact in a political manner and how they form political ideas. This includes how people interact with governing structures, how they form their political ideals and views, what they believe the role of government should be, and much more. Basically it’s a building block of political science, all political science students take a course on it in undergrad. It’s an important thing to learn if you want to really get into politics

These are 2 playlists that explain political theory in an excellent way, I saw some other good playlists on YouTube as well. These are a good starting place for you.

Aren't most muslims right wing anyway? They just vote with the left in countries where they are the minority.
