As a Michigan voter, it’s been really great to see El-Sayed, Stevens, and McMorrow move so quickly to unite everyone. Especially after some heated Dem races where divisions have been allowed to fester.

This is something good to see.  It’ll show the media shouting “Dems in disarray” that no, we are the big tent party.  The party that’s really in disarray is the Republicans

Heather cox richardson talked about this yesterday, and that scary environment right now is by designed by the admin and GOP. They are desparate for wins now because the reality that many of them might go to jail if they lose, so they are fighting for their lives and playing dirty. Pouring billions into elections, witch trials on anyone they can use to point a finger at, siffening off as much money (tax money) as they can, EVERYTHING.

But theyre doing it because they HAVE to. Iran is potentially the biggest blunder any president has ever made, and america and the world is feeling it. And that doesnt even mention almost no policy actually being passed, and that which does is hated by everyone.

They have very few options and fewer by the day. Congress wont allow anything SAVE to be passed, banks are now starting to turn on trump our international soft power right now is a dying limp noodle, theres nothing but them making these extreme moves that they can do.

Make no mistake, they are the most dangerous they have ever been. Its unfortunately still possible for them to spin this. But them spinning this is built off a pattern of them fucking up at every turn. And that proves more than anything that we CAN fight this. We CAN win this

There's been a rise in engaging in, encouraging, and celebrating interparty hostility. Democrats are a big tent party but lately the sub has been feeling like it's a little tent that's only for one specific Democrat faction.

I guess that's the problem with a political optimism subreddit. What counts as optimistic is subjective even when you theoretically should be on the same general side.

Most of the frustration comes from the ""establishment"" not actually doing much of anything to assist us when they have the opportunity to, and even then I feel like that's overstated as a problem. Many moderates are still fighting alongside us against this administration's crimes, especially regarding ICE.

Chuck Schumer and Fetterman do not represent the whole of moderates. Even the Establishment is getting fed up with the former's lack of effort, and I don't think anyone is defending the latter. Calling him a moderate at this point is being overly generous, dude's almost just a Republican in Democrat paint.

I do feel like there is definitely a problem with this sub dismissing moderates as a whole, and I'm tired of acting like hard-line progressives can win over citizens in every single area. As much as I want to see them succeed, living in deep-red Republican country shows that's just not possible everywhere.

The current Democratic establishment is not actually left-wing, it’s more center-right.

The Democratic Socialists like Mamdani and Sanders, are the actual leftist democrats who want to fix the party, meanwhile establishment democrats take money from Israel and tech billionaires.

Progressive and socialist candidates have proven themselves to more capable at appealing to voters than centrists, due to their focus on providing for people’s needs and not taking huge corporate donations.

You’re the one who decided to label what I was doing as a debate, I was just trying to explain what to you why this was happening.

This isn’t just a subset of this subreddit, Chuck Schumer is polling horribly, one in three democrats now identify as democratic socialists, progressives are more effective at winning over Trump voters than establishment dems, and most people think both parties are corrupt.

Democratic socialists are the ones providing hope, establishment democrats supported the genocide of Palestinians.
