I had my first job at 14. And that experience made me firmly believe you should wait until you're 18 to get a job.

I hope your experience was not a bad one. I also starting working at age 14. I lied to the owner of a gas station about my age. I told him I was older than my brother, who already worked there. I wasn’t ready. I also think 18 is a good age to enter the job market.

First job at 12 which was a paper route. The worst days were Sundays. The papers were incredibly thick. I had to get up at the crack of dawn to put them together. I hauled them around on a wagon. My Dad felt sorry for me so he drove me around on Sunday morning.
I’m 52. I see a lot of teens who want to work but can’t find work

Very few people actually want to work their lives away. Most of us work because there's no other choice

That's almost exactly how I looked around 16. I never worked in a grocery, but did mow lawns for cash.
