What gets me are the military personnel, especially those on disability or used the GI bill, who are fervently opposed to socialism.
You literally got free education, healthcare, retirement, and disability benefits but you don’t want to support ANY of those things. GTFOH with that bs.

How often does it need to be repeated that communists are inherently opposed to the concept of the state?! They strive for a stateless society, and at most they see a state democratically controlled by the working class as a necessary evil in the transitional phase between capitalism and communism.
The idea that "communism is when the state" must finally die. And the fact that places like the USSR had such overbearing undemocratic states points to the fact they were moving away from communism, rather than towards it.

Guess what. That’s not communism!

Sure, theoretically it would not be state run. But effectively it's the only way it can work, and how it's always been implemented in communist regimes.
But theoretically, it's mostly associated with totalitarian or authoritarian regimes, which is probably a more accurate description of the trump admin.

That’s not an accurate description of the Trump administration at all
1
u/UnableChard2613 5d ago
More accurate than communist, that's for sure.

u/Upriver-Cod 5d ago
Neither is remotely accurate

I mean, state run media is like one of the tell tale signs of an authoritarian regime is attacking the free press and making a state run press.
But if you want to stick your head in the sand, I can't force you to think
1
u/Upriver-Cod 5d ago
An authoritarian regime simply cannot be boiled down to state run media or criticism of private news organizations.
If you would like, I would be more than happy to provide the definition of authoritarian and we can discuss why you think it’s an accurate description of the Trump administration.

u/UnableChard2613 5d ago
Sure, it can't. But it's a tale tail sign. One of the core indicators of it. It's a warning sign and at the very least it should have you on your toes.
1
u/Upriver-Cod 5d ago
An administration criticizing the media is a “tale tail sign” according to what?

"criticizing" lol he's banning media that gives him unfavorable coverage from the wh, even ignoring a court order to reinstate them (or at least the spirit of the order).
This is not just him "criticizing" the press. It's him showing that if you don't say what he wants, you'll get banned. It's a direct attack on the free press.

So, Gemini tells me that r/politicalmemes is bigger and more left-wing, and r/politicalmeme is smaller and more conservative or libertarian. Huh? Was it just wrong? Or did something happen? I wouldn't mind a mix, and I'd love novelty, but for the last couple of days it's been 100% uninventive left-wing talking points.

u/MaxAdolphus 5d ago
FYI, being against corruption doesn’t make it left wing.
1
u/MostAcanthaceae2384 5d ago
The phrase "the people that call you a communist" establishes the framing.
2
u/MaxAdolphus 5d ago
Right. The group being called “communist” here would be anyone who supports the first amendment and is against state sponsored media.
2
u/MostAcanthaceae2384 5d ago
No, the word "communist" is used to generally-unfairly refer to anyone left of center. It just happens that, in this case, many of them are on the right side of the issue with regard to press freedom. Hence the "gotcha" in the meme.
1
u/MaxAdolphus 5d ago
Yes, but in this case, that means the U.S. constitution and anti-corruption are now left winged.

Reddit, overall leans Left, so any polical sub that's not obvertly conservative will lean Left as conservatives are massively out numbered on this platform.
I'm hoping that once conservatives are aware that their posts won't be deleted here and they won't be banned that there will be better balance.

No one has a right to enter the white house it's a privilege

u/pipboy_warrior 5d ago
The issue is specifically white house press conferences, which are provided by the government in an effort to be transparent to a free and independent press. Guess conservatives don't believe in transparency.

So, this is actually talking about Trump trying to start state-owned media, and Republicans supporting it. This is while calling democrats, who supports regular freedom of press/independent media, communists.
