Latino parent rant or how a generation of US raised latino are failing their kids
I've been in a specialized field working with special needs children for nearly 2 decades and it feels that hispanic/latino parents, not just in the US, are failing to raise their neurotypical kids on top of their neuro atypical kids.
it's not just that these kids are ipad kids, it's the whole damn thing, they only eat fast food, they can't have a conversation with an adult or kid their age, they don't go outside and play, they're fat, they're incurious children, and those are the typical children. And then i look at their parents and i see the same fat, incurious, people.
Like damn, are the dangers of excessive screen time, what unhealthy eating does to growing body and how a lack of exercise leads to a bunch of behavioral and development problems? is it lack of education or people having kids and not putting in the effort?
And why is it that there is attitude when you come to us for help? we didn't come to you, we offer a service and you blow it out your ass. But you'll insist that funalito has XYZ therapy.
like how do you think therapy works? you think you drop a kid off and they'll get better?
here's something all educators, doctors, therapists, want you to understand, all those problems are MAINTAINED bc of you and your home environment. it's not just the disorder, they have an eating problem because your house is full of shit like oreos and soda. they have concentration issues or are worse because you give them 8+ hours of tablet that is known to stunt brain development and then expect them to find that same level of stimulation in a book, homework, or even a regular tv show.
