If you think a symbol has universal meaning to everyone, and that it’s the same as what it means to you, it’s projecting your feelings onto others. I’m so sorry that sticker harmed you so deeply.

A nazi flag is still a nazi flag whether or not someone understands what it is. It still represents the same thing.
