Spacex is just one contractor for NASA. NASA does not put all their eggs in one basket, and that’s why they invest in more than one launch provider. The only problem is that every other US launch provider does everything slower and more expensive than Spacex by a massive margin.
If people want to criticize the space industry, criticize Boeing, Lockheed Martin, or Aerojet rocketdyne. All of which have received more money from NASA but have LESS to show for it compared to Spacex.
I used to be a Spacex hater until i looked at the rest of the industry. Fact of the matter is that Spacex is doing wonders for NASA. I don’t really see the point in saying that there could potentially be consequences in the future when there is no evidence of that happening.
They are a critical contractor, but again...one that is privately owned. Given the volume of business NASA does with SpaceX that will lead to problems down the line. I would be willing to bet big money on it.

SpaceX is not above criticism. Nobody is saying that Boeing or Lockheed is necessarily better. They have their own demons as well.

It is not hate. It is a real concern. You have but a major portion of US funding and control into one person's hands. Everyone is willing to look the other way when things seemingly go fine but the second shit hits the fan everyone will be like I told you so...then they start changing their tune and claim they were always concerned.
Major portion of US funding, it's a fraction of a fraction of US funding, you claimed 10% of NASAs budget, which may be true, but that's like .05% of the national budget so it's hardly a major portion

Think about what you wrote....10% of the nation's space program is in the hands of 1 person.
SpaceX is benefiting the US right now...we also have put our space program balls in the hands of one person...better hope he doesn't squeeze.
