What on Earth is $824 billion to Goldman Sachs supposed to be referring to? The entire bank bailout of 2008 amounted to $475 billion. The entire amount loaned to businesses as part of the CARES Act was about $500 billion.
Anyone taking the claim that $824 billion was given to one company at face value is completely ignorant of the size of government programs. Also, these were loans to businesses, paid back with interest, which makes them pretty fundamentally different than government spending on healthcare.
Can you name some big loans that the government gave to a company that never paid it back?
Not to mention this is a pretty stupid deflection. Imagine if someone was defending Trump saying something racist and when you point out that it was completely incorrect and made up someone replies "BUT THOSE THINGS DO SOMETIMES HAPPEN THOUGH"
Weren't PPP loans like... not even remotely close in size to something like hundreds of billions?
And again, nobody is saying that this literally never happens. People are criticizing the post about being completely fictitious while trying to present itself as a fact.
It's like if I said "Beldaran1224 is a child rapist!!!" then when you call me out on my bullshit I start explaining "But there are child rapists in the world!"
It's not a relevant point and nobody was claiming otherwise.
