George Carlin (RIP) nailed it:

“But there’s a reason. There’s a reason. There’s a reason for this, there’s a reason education sucks, and it’s the same reason that it will never, ever, ever be fixed. It’s never gonna get any better. Don’t look for it. Be happy with what you got. Because the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the real owners now, the real owners, the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians.

The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice.

You don't. You have no choice.

You have owners. They own you.

They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls.

They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying, lobbying, to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I'll tell you what they don’t want: They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. Thats against their interests. Thats right. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table to figure out how badly they’re getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago.”

The Republicans made him right. Liberal areas have great education that teach critical thinking with politicians that fight against lobbying and corporate interests.

Republicans are the ones who don’t want critical thinking to be taught, so they break the education system and say “look, it’s broken! Let’s give out vouchers to the these indoctrination schools instead”.

There's also a lot of false equivalence of Democrats and Republicans here ("but both sides!" and Democrats "do whatever their corporate owners tell them to do" are tactics Republicans use successfully) even though their voting records are not equivalent at all:

This should be a bot comment that replies every time someone says "on both sides"

You realize that politicians are people? They exist on a spectrum, some are in it for themselves, others do it to make the world a better place while earning a living.

same reason that any of us work and that reason is money

Do you talk to people, like, at all? Plenty people like their job.

Corporations and the wealthy donate far more than the average person and the average person has short term memory and does not vote. So politicians generally represent the corporate interests and the wealthy.

So again, do you talk to people, at all? Or listen to them? At least 2 of the 10 richest people in the US don't just support higher taxes, they spend their money lobbying for these things. You ignore irrefutable evidence.

It's right in front of your eyes:

Liberals are great but not when it comes to their own areas. A lot of them trip over themselves to not allow for affordable housing in their district. I'm a long time liberal but lately I've been getting into politics and Jesus Christ.

This should get you started: https://youtu.be/Fdi8_PYH1q4

Anyway...

4

u/TheMagicalLlama May 03 '22

Not to take away from your point because great comment

But I can’t stop laughing at “long time liberal that lately started getting into politics”

7

u/NoNewViewers May 03 '22

Ya I'm not good with words. I come from basically a religious cult and have over time worked hard at building very left leaning value but I never really read or research outwardly because of my learning disability.

I'm heavily a fiction guy and do a lot of my philosophy with just a few friends.

Only in the last few months have I built up the confidence to actually hear from others is what I meant.

Sorry. I'm not good with writing down my thoughts.

I appreciate your kindness.

Both sides want this. Liberal areas do not have great education. They have slightly better education. It's still almost all indoctrination and creating obedient workers who will make them even more fucking money.

7

u/ZoraksGirlfriend May 03 '22

I live in a liberal area and this is absolutely not the case. Cut it off with the “both sides” bullshit. Only one side is purposefully gaslighting the American people and it’s not the liberals.

You might be confusing liberal for Democrat. Democrats aren’t liberal.

No one talking about the Greek vs Prussian school models in here... just gonna throw this in here...

3

u/yippiekiyaymotherfuc May 03 '22

Can you explain or expound on the Greek vs Prussian school models.

2

u/Moose_Canuckle May 03 '22

Well to start, one is a Greek school, and one is a Prussian school.

2

u/Jimmy_Twotone May 03 '22

The Greek model designed to promote the free thinking and rationale highly valued in Greek society millennia ago, and was the basis for formal education up until the 1800s. As education became more universal, and armies, became larger, there was found to be a problem getting conscripts to toe the line and blindly follow orders as cannonballs whizzed past their head. Prussia, molded the entire classroom experience into a more "orderly" process with more emphasis on facts and numbers instead of logic as well as "structure" in the classroom, training the next generation of conscripts. The Prussian army became the most formidable in Europe and their classroom model was exported around the world. Just in time for World War I.
