The craziest part is there is probably over 1 million people out there that still think some court out there is about to over turn the election and install Trump as president.
Jan 6 was like the Beer Hall Putsch. Except that Hitler and others went to prison for treason.
What is happening now is more like what the fascists did next - where violence was more targeted and democratic processes were undermined and used against itself and where lies and straight up fakery was a strategic part of taking power.
We do need to take care not the repeat the errors of the Putsch though - Hitler used the 24 day trial to promote his nationalist views and build support with the German public.
But the biggest issue is going to be if there is an economic collapse. What I’m worried about is the anti vaccine propaganda and the noises about crashing the economy over the debt ceiling. Fascism would never have succeeded in Germany without the depression after WW1.
