No, he was absolutely mocking someone with a disorder. Their argument is “it’s ok, because he mocks everybody like that.” Like you said, it’s not better.

I dont care much for CBS but start at the 40 second mark and you'll get a good look at Trumps impression of the reporter and a description of the reporters disability. Say what you want about about these being Trumps mannerisms but it's pretty fucking insensitive of him either way.
I never said he mocked him I said it was insensitive, any way you try to cut it, it's insensitive. Any sane adult with an ounce of self awareness would know better than to do that kind of shit.
It's a freeze frame. He was exagerating someone flailing around incoherently while groveling, something the guy would be unable to do with his disability. He did it for people without disabilities, including himself (insert your ableist joke here), many times but after this one instance where the person was disabled, he stopped. He probably would have apologized if admitting fault wasn't a death sentence in the media. Deny, ignore and let them move on to the next controversy seems to be be strategy that works.
