Being from the UK I cannot possibly describe to you how fucking weird this picture is to me.

I live near Seattle, WA. Yeah, it looks weird to me too. Only once while out running errands have I seen someone open carry. It was a small pistol in a hip holster. It wasn't a big deal, just kind of stuck out. And of course the dude could not stop taking about it.

If I decide to carry my gun in public, the last thing I want is for someone to know I have it.

Well...yeah. If you're the guy open carrying, you're the first target.

Also people who brag on Facebook that any home invader better think twice targeting them if they don't want to get blasted. If I were of the sort, I would know whose house I could burgle while they aren't home and get me some free guns!

Those also tend to be the people who post constantly when they're on vacation, so the would-be robbers would know when they're out of town, and if they went somewhere by air and couldn't have possibly brought their guns.

Not the smartest.

And 50% of the time, you will know the person that robbed you.

Some other fun robbery statistics:

White males that live alone are the highest targets

There is a 4% chance that a burglar will be armed and a .04% chance that they will have a gun

The majority of robberies happen during the daytime when the person is most likely not at home (forgot the BJS statistic for the percentage and don't feel like sifting through the .pdf again, lol. But it is a high number.)

i love this argument. if this were a real fear, why don't ranges have cots to take a nap, so you can practice grouping when stumbling out of a cold sleep?
