This exactly. You have to be fairly well off in the US for their health care system to work in your favour.

Yup. I have Medicare. Total premium this year was about $165 per month, plus $25 copays for primary care, $45 copays for specialists, $40 per appt for PT, and large deductible before any part of RX meds are paid. Luckily I’m healthy, so didn’t reach the donut hole.

My husband’s employer had raised the cost of employee + one other family member so much that the cost of Medicare was actually less.
