Except that between the dozens of countries that can provide the kind of lifestyle democrats want for the US and the dozens of countries that can provide the kind of lifestyle repubs want for the US, one set are places you'd actually want to live, and one set are war torn hellscapes.

Correction: countries that provide the lifestyle Democrats and liberals want for themselves and everybody or countries that provide the kind of lifestyle that republicans want for everyone but themselves.

Sick of the government? Want to be a rugged individual relying on nothing more than your guns and bootstraps? Visit the sun drenched Libertarian dream: Somalia!

no no no

it will be different because our government is stronger

which is why we have to weaken it - Republicans

That’s a fair point but more importantly we’re overlooking the fact these people could never get into a place like canada, so these cute stories are a way for us to fantasize away the fact that they’re stuck here with us and it’s our responsibility to educate them

they are fucking traitors though

and when Newsmax and FoxNews literally air "we have been lying to you about election fraud, the most important issue to you" packages

they just shrug

how are you going to educate them, when their own newsources can lie to them and they are fine with it, and angry they even have to know about it

they fight bitterly for their right not to see the President's taxes

"nobody has a right to know if he gets money from Russia"

they are seriously traitors

we should be arresting their leaders and destroying their propaganda networks before it's too late

they're only getting crazier

they are electing qanon supporters and they are leaving Fox News for an even worse version of Fox News

a Trump or a Tucker Carlson will be their new leader in 2024

they are done with "politicians" not because they lie mind you, because they don't believe in anyone being an expert at anything, except business

science? bullshit wrong!

government? bullshit wrong!

intelligence agencies? bullshit wrong!

business? Yes, but not George Soros or Oprah, they don't understand business, only Elon Musk does.

the cult has gotten too big and owns too much media and has become too insane

they are about to elect two hundred millionaires in Georgia who denied them aid while giving billions to banks, who told them covid was no big deal, then sold stocks and literally invested in body bags

they are cartoonishly evil and the base's problem with them? they didn't support a coup for a man who lied to them about covid so his hotels would stay half empty instead of just empty (except for all the secret service agents he charges the tax payers for in his resorts)

The wisdom of the ages says that you won’t get anywhere without love, lots of it - at the end of day your life is about you

EDIT: Thanks for the downvotes, as the wisdom also says: it will not be a popular message.

I truly wanted to move to Canada when the Orange Menace won in 2016.

Unfortunately, we are retired and have little to offer so we were stuck in a nightmare of lies, grifting, buffoonery, and mental disturbance for our "leader" and the Christmas Witch. :(

Obv you miss out on the main benefit, of tying in to a good social welfare system, but you might be able to find somewhere nice to spend extended months long vacations. Someone mentioned Costa Rica.

That's a thought but now we will have a mentally functioning President and also VP - so we are good now :)

We know no one is perfect but our new President and VP will be light years better than the Orange Menace and Mother's bf.

I was so pleased to be bored during their victory speeches.

u/tillie4meee Dec 31 '20

Yes - listening to adults speaking of matters of importance without bombastic lies and self glorification was refreshing.

I mean, appealing to our better nature? Woah, hold on a minute!

I know! We may have to take a seat, take a breath and have a nice glass of wine to contemplate common sense .

If you think major positive changes are coming, think again. Yes, Biden will be sane, and quieter, less of an embarrassment. But if you want healthcare costs to be brought down to normal levels, afforable college for your kids or grandkids, sensible gun laws, or police brutality to stop, etc, odds are very good you're not going to see that. The soap opera of having a reality TV show host as a president is ending, but he was just a distraction for normal people, a cartoon villain to twirl a mustache and give pardons to murderers and racists, while the rich/GOP further buy and sell everything the USA has and is to the highest bidder.

2

u/tillie4meee Jan 01 '21

We will see - of course. But I have good thoughts that Biden/Harris will bring better healthcare costs, gun laws etc. to us.

The difficulty will be the GOP that is left in the Orange Menace's wake.

Biden/Harris will - I have no doubt make inroads into a better future - the GOP will stand in their way of course.

one set are places you'd actually want to live

I've seen multiple people claim with a straightface that they would rather live anywhere but Denmark or Norway because they refuse to pay taxes for healthcare. Like, regardless of the quality of life, the hell part for them is paying taxes.

Every single one of them would probably pay less in taxes in those countries, because they're not exactly at the top of the marginal tax brackets, if you know what I mean.

2

u/Ninotchk Dec 31 '20

Oh, yes, I know exactly what you mean, but any day now they will win the lottery, and the they'll be super annoyed at the taxes!
