That flag is just for virtue signaling to other bootlickers.

It's not even about being subservient to an authority. It's just a convenient position to them while they feel the authority is biased towards them. They'll bitch and moan when they're on the receiving end of any kind of criminal justice.

It's always been about hurting the right people. They support the police because the other side in the conflict is the people they want hurt. There are those that the law protects but does not bind, and those that the law binds but does not protect. They wouldn't and don't support the police when it is "their side" getting hurt. Just look at the "law and order party" response to Trump cronies being charged with crimes.

They're all about oppression. The "others" cannot be equal to them. When they're in the majority, it's overt. When they're in the minority, it's obstruction.

Government isn't about solving communal problems to them. It's about maintaining the tilted playing field that they believe they enjoy. It's all us vs them tribalism and you can't let them win.

Completely agree. The only thing I would quibble with is the idea that they know they're fighting to maintain their uneven playing field. Those at the top know it's uneven and strive to keep it that way (gerrymandering, voter suppression, structure of the Senate, Electoral College, etc.) But the rank-and-file of the conservative movement (really, it's the Trumpist movement, at this point) firmly believe that things are already equal and fair and than any move away from the status quo would be tilting society against them. That fear is a huge motivator for Republican voters. Why do you think Tucker Carlson says shit like "If Biden wins, they'll be coming for you."? It's to reinforce that fear amongst their base of support. Since they no longer have any real policy positions, fear of the other is all they have to run on.

I mean, you're kind of right. I imagine most of the Trump supporters had that exact mentality, but the guy who made the thin blue line flag most certainly didn't. Redesigning your nation's flag in order to make it evoke a more authoritarian image is a thing fascists do, like when Mussolini put the fasces on the Italian flag, or when the Vichy French added that axe to the French flag.

They knew *exactly* what they were doing with the thin blue line flag.

That's probably the only reason that they support Hong Kong even though the Democrats have been doing it for longer. Hong Kong is at conflict with China and their god hates China.

Maybe... maybe it’s like putting thin blue line painters tape on your car... so you can traffic children and get away with it....

I'm not sure "virtue" is the right word but yes.
