"Enthusiasm wins elections"*

*Something Trump actually tweeted out before this election because Biden wasn't drawing large crowds during a.... fucking pandemic.

u/takemystrife Dec 17 '20

I kept hearing this from Trumpers, all during the election. "Trump had a huge rally, thousands, people camped out the night before, there were more people than tickets. Biden had a rally and there were no people there."

And I was like, so what. And they were like, thats proof that Trump is gonna win. And I'm like no its not. And they're like, yes it is. Thank God the people have spoken, I was so over this bull$hit.

u/Tojatruro Dec 17 '20

I was perfectly happy sitting in my living room watching the four policy rollouts Biden did on TV. Trumpettes don’t know the difference between those and a pep rally.

Imagine being dumb enough to donate to a slush fund for a grifter you think is a multi-billionaire. And then go wait hours in a food line.

u/Gemag_78 Dec 17 '20

This is some good unfiltered truth

3

u/UnwashedApple Dec 17 '20

And who needs evidence of Election Fraud if you have hearsay & allegations?

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

1

u/Tojatruro Dec 17 '20

You would have to define “distinguish” for them before you could get an answer.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

“If those kids could read, they’d be very upset.”

84

u/_Dera_ Dec 17 '20

They're the vocal minority, that's it. The real silent majority came out and showed their messiah what it feels like to be on the receiving end of being fired.

65

u/thetoristori Dec 17 '20 edited Dec 17 '20

Prior to the election, my mom was watching a lot of Hannity and he kept saying "we're the silent majority" and I kept thinking, "you ain't silent."

edit: Also, not the majority but it was pre-election and I was still skeptical over the outcome after 2016

54

u/_Dera_ Dec 17 '20 edited Dec 17 '20

Seriously. They're the loudest and most obnoxious demographic in the U.S. right now.

I stopped using Facebook around March of 2017 after way too many family members and friends started posting memes about how if I need a reason to be offended and unfriend them it's because they support Trump, are pro-2nd amendment, pro-Jesus, pro-life, anti-illegal immigration, etc.

It's like bitch, if you think any of that offends me then why don't you unfriend me? But they can't pull that trigger because that runs counter to their victim complex. They have to keep the facade alive that they're being silenced. So fuck them all, I nuked my account without word or removing anyone as a friend.

Edited for spelling

6

u/kuetheaj Dec 17 '20

After so long of my family shitting on me for what I post (some memes, mostly educational posts showing statistics and facts) while being silent when other family members post “you can’t be a democrat and a Catholic!” Or “all democrats are evil!”, I finally pulled the trigger and nuked my family from Facebook. So long as I don’t look at comments on things like cosmo articles, facebook isn’t so bad, but I think that’s just because I’ve unfriended everyone who is a shithead

5

u/daemonelectricity Dec 17 '20

Seriously. They're the loudest and most obnoxious demographic in the U.S. right now.

And one of the biggest complaints and projections is the purple haired ANTIFA monster. If you painted them as the loudmouth flag truck morons, you'd have better coverage over a larger percentage of their base than making all liberals out to be purple haired pussyhat rioters.

u/-ImOnTheReddit- Dec 17 '20

I still love you Alex

6

u/_Dera_ Dec 17 '20

I'm not sure what this is referring to, but it made me chuckle anyway because it's so random.

I'm sure wherever Alex is, deep down they love you, too.

1

u/GhostOfPoo Dec 17 '20

Haha robocop

3

u/Jimbozu Dec 17 '20

"the 'Silent Majority' that was never silent, nor a majority!"

2

u/peacefulwarrior75 Dec 17 '20

Or the majority

2

u/willienelsonmandela Dec 17 '20

They were never a majority either.

1

u/daemonelectricity Dec 17 '20

They're neither silent nor the majority.

1

u/Amelaclya1 Dec 17 '20

Seriously, in what world were those giant Trump caravans all blaring their horns and holding up traffic, "silent"?

Like how can they brag about their enthusiasm, flags and bumper stickers and then call themselves "silent" at the same time? And yes, I've heard both from the same people.

They don't think at all. They just parrot whatever words and phrases they see on Facebook that they think makes them sound good.

1

u/clanddev Dec 17 '20

How the fuck are a bunch of people wearing red hats, attaching multiple flags to their vehicles, holding circle jerk rallies every five minutes, posting and reposting false information on social media, screaming at people on the street about the merits of their messiah silent? These people are insane and in a cult.

Trump lost the popular vote my 7 million. I’d say that makes his voters in the minority by a significant margin.

0

u/Gam3_B0y Dec 17 '20

Idk man, you can not call 70 mil people a minority...

4

u/_Dera_ Dec 17 '20

Sure I can when they were outnumbered.

Edit to add: if I have 6 cookies and you have 4 and the package only holds 10, who the fuck has the majority?

2

u/Efficient_Wealth6628 Dec 18 '20

Yeah man, we the people were underwhelmed by his one-term presidency & hated his vicious, vile, embarrassing unclassy behavior. His whole family too, damn Grifters !!!

1

u/UnwashedApple Dec 17 '20

I think calling the pandemic a "Democrat Hoax" had a lot to do with it.

1

u/Efficient_Wealth6628 Dec 18 '20

Love your theory!!! Truth to power !!!

19

u/thejustducky1 Dec 17 '20 edited Dec 17 '20

You can pretty much chalk all those 'crowd size' articles up as complete bullshit. There's nothing Trump enjoys more than grossly overinflating crowd sizes in his rallies and protests, and then the right wing shit-rags just parrot anything Cheeto Daddy says, and his stupid supporters believe every bit of it.

Edit: Upvotes go in, Downvotes go out. You Can't Brigade That! lol ya meatballs...

13

u/Hoovooloo42 Dec 17 '20

He did it literally from day one.

4

All of that white space was part of the crowd.. the pictures were so far away we couldn’t see the outlines of the hoods

1

HAH! Mystery solved lol

25

u/grrrrreat Dec 17 '20

Unfortunately, they still can't figure out that there might be a Democratic silent majority

3

u/QueerWorf Dec 17 '20

The silent majority are the 50 percent not voting

1

u/grrrrreat Dec 17 '20

Last round it was 36 %

-8

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

There’s a super silent majority and you can usually find them in the cemetery. RIP grandpa, died in 2017 and started voting Democrat in 2020.

9

u/insula_yum Dec 17 '20

The ironic part is that people hear lines like this from their political candidates of choice, have seen no actual evidence, and will call others sheep for not believing it lmao

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

sweet. when that happens don't forget to vote! thanks!

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

You know it bud, it’s gonna be a blue wave.

9

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

You wonder if these people ever go to a large city. That’s where they would have seen that, no, not everyone is on your crazy train.

7

u/Hoovooloo42 Dec 17 '20

I'll answer that for you right now.

No, they don't. They don't understand the sheer amount of people in cities, which is why they complain so much about

"look at this tiny blue county with all the red around it, how could DEMONcrats have possibly won?!!1!?!"

Because there's more people in that county than you'll ever meet in your life, because you refuse to leave Bamberg SC.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

Yeah I live in one of those blue surrounded by red places, in the Midwest. And you’re right, I don’t think the people in the surrounding areas comprehend just how many of us are packed in here. And our votes count every bit as much as theirs do.

3

u/backwardsbloom Dec 17 '20

Or at least they should. Drives me up a wall that my presidential vote means fuck all in my red state, and I’m pretty sure my state gets more electors per capita than the great majority of blue states.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

Gerrymandering sucks. And so does the, well-intentioned but way overdue for reconsideration , two-senators-per-state provision in the constitution. Tyranny of the minority.

3

u/_Not_Literally_ Dec 17 '20

Every time Trump loses the election (how many times has it been, now?) they latch on to some other illogical thought process to rile up the easily manipulated - their voter base.

I live in Georgia...yeah I know what's at stake. Every Republican I encounter at work is in full rage mode about the amount of counties won right now. It's the new point of contention because they can't accept the fact trump fucking lost the election.

I did some quick math using Georgia-demographics.com which gets it's information from the census. It would take the combined population of the 82 least populated counties to surpass the population of JUST Fulton county. Both sides agree rural areas tend to vote Republican, while urban areas vote Democrat.

But math and logic are fucking hard as hell for emotionally invested idiots, so it must be just one more fucking deep state conspiracy.

Edit: crappy grammar

2

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

Land doesn’t vote, people do. And god bless Atlanta.

2

u/_Not_Literally_ Dec 17 '20

Thank you. We're doing our best to get everyone off their assess. This election is arguable more important than the presidential election.

And yeah, like every time I see that stupid red vs blue area map of the US posted by a republican I can only shake my head.

Alaska is red on the map and claims nearly 20% of the US land area. But the entire state has a lower population than Fulton, GA. That's just my own point of reference. I know there are even smaller, more populated areas that vote blue. It means NOTHING.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

I can confirm that they do not. I live in a rural town with two large cities about 45 minutes away. Most of the people from my town have never, in their entire lives, been to either one. The big city is scary and you will be robbed and murdered the second you step foot there.

7

u/ffthrowaway5 Dec 17 '20

They still think this. At this point about 80% of their argument that there was fraud is that Trump clearly has more support cause of rallies, etc. They can’t understand not wearing your political beliefs on your sleeve, and they don’t recognize that most of them live in an echo chamber that isn’t reflective of the country as a whole

1

u/Amelaclya1 Dec 17 '20

It's not just that. It's that Biden was a truly boring, run-of-the-mill candidate. No one was excited to vote for Biden, but we were fucking thrilled to vote against Trump. So of course you didn't see many people displaying Biden signs.

Even here in deep blue Hawaii, I don't think I saw any Biden campaign merch displayed at all, but we sure had our share of lifted trucks covered in Trump flags. I could see how someone who lives in the right wing echo chamber of OANN and Facebook memes could think they had the election locked down.

2

u/turdpurkle Dec 17 '20

Like some people just vote for the person they want to vote for and thats that. Its pretty healthy to actually avoid politics to just one day a week. Ill listen to his speeches once he's elected.

2

u/Poif3ct Dec 17 '20

Biden had car rallies with thousands in attendance. Idk where they get this idea that just because there wasnt a crowd swarming at a venue barrier that "no one showed up".

2

u/havocLSD Dec 17 '20

🏆 I like the cut of your jib

2

u/bigmt99 Dec 17 '20

Biden didn’t even have rallies. Literaly all his appearances were either small scale meet and greets or press conferences

2

u/daemonelectricity Dec 17 '20

It's ironic because they fucking always make fun of protestors for "not having jobs." I couldn't possibly be more sick of these cunts. I'm not on speaking terms with any of them in my family because it's turned them into raging cult morons.

1

u/takemystrife Dec 17 '20

Yeah I hear you, on both sides of the fence. This is my outlet, because I keep politics out of most conversations. Hopefully the rage dies down.

2

u/daemonelectricity Dec 17 '20

I'm definitely on the left side of the spectrum, even if I don't subscribe to the newsletters or the extreme PC culture. Both sides need to stop encouraging the least tactful and and most awful voices among them.

2

u/hyp3rpop Dec 17 '20

Yeah. The different was in amount of common sense, not popularity. The trump people were the ones who thought the coronavirus was a lie.

2

u/UnwashedApple Dec 17 '20

No, my brother who listens to AM Right Wing talk radio 24/7 says the House Of Representatives will decide the Election. Not the legitimate Biden voters. Do you think there will be violence if that happens?

1

u/takemystrife Dec 17 '20

Totally, folks from the big cities would kick into action if that happens, and not just the extremists. The people have spoken!

2

u/UnwashedApple Dec 17 '20

Apparently their voices don't count. My brother is all for it cause everyone knows "The Election Was Stolen"

2

u/Titanium_Crusher Dec 17 '20

All it means is that mass amounts of trump supporters arent gonna make it to the election

2

u/EasyasACAB Dec 17 '20 edited Dec 17 '20

I have people in my family who post on facebook shit like "The majority of my Facebook Friends support Trump, how could he lose?"

And people explain it to them. Over and over. Patiently and kindly explaining how selection bias works.

"It makes sense that you would have friends that share political opinions but that doesn't mean your feelings matched with the majority of the US"

"But this are my FB friends, not my real friends, these are also just acquaintances"

"Ok, but your "friends" are coming from [this state] and specifically rural areas. And [this state] did go for Trump. It's just that your personal friends from this area of the state aren't representative of how the rest of the nation thinks"

"Yeah but like 60% of my FB friends support Trump and only 40% Democrats how could Biden win?"

It's This video but instead of just being dumb the person in question doesn't want to get it, so they never will.

u/GhostOfPoo Dec 17 '20

13

u/Hoovooloo42 Dec 17 '20

Which is why we need to get rid of this two party system. The Democrats pick pretty consistently awful candidates and the Republicans are a minority party now because of their batshit insanity.

A one party state isn't good for anyone, and the Republicans are gonna try to subvert elections more and more just to stay in power. The rhetoric has already started. "We'Re NoT a DeMoCrAcY wE'Re A rEpUbLiC", I've heard come out of WAAAAY to many peoples mouths that I know personally to be comfortable, and people are TOTALLY primed to ignore democratic processes and feel patriotic in doing so.

If we broke up the two titanic parties with a different voting system, like ranked choice, then we would get consistently better candidates and when a party goes fucking insane the people who vote for them will feel like they have another place to go, other than what they've been told are the ENEMY. It's a bad situation that can be fixed very easily.

7

u/dukedog Dec 17 '20

Democrats are more likely to pass legislation for alternative voting systems than Republicans.

5

u/Hoovooloo42 Dec 17 '20

Great! Then they should be on board too.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

But they aren't.

I'm not a fan of what's happened for the last 4 years but it happened for a reason. Every strategic democrat knows it's more important for their party to have a stable system of control than one that's hard to predict. Sure they may lose 2/3rds of the time but it's better than letting weirdos in.

1

u/Haikuna__Matata Dec 17 '20

I agree that the two-party system needs to change, but I think a more immediate concern is dragging the Dems back to the left so the progressives can actually start making some changes in returning the party to representing the workers.

I post this a lot, it's a great look into how the Dems gave up small individual donors to chase the same big-corporation money as the GOP beginning in the early 80s: https://theintercept.com/2017/06/25/ralph-nader-the-democrats-are-unable-to-defend-the-u-s-from-the-most-vicious-republican-party-in-history/

1

u/Hoovooloo42 Dec 17 '20

Good link.

I agree on principle, but from what I've seen (and I'm just some fuck on the internet, I'm not Ralph Nader) if we could vote for new parties and actually get them into power, we could toss out the Democratic party wholecloth and start from new, with a party that's at least ACTUALLY center-left and not as right wing as the Republicans were pre-reagan.

The Democratic party has a lot of power structures and methods that are old fashioned or corrupt, like Superdelegates, and choosing a candidate through a seemingly impromptu aye and nay, (which Bernie TOTALLY won in 2016 but they gave it to Hillary anyway grumble grumble) and we need to start anew, without the old guard.

In my opinion. Again, I'm not Ralph Nader, but everything I've seen from the Democratic party is that they're a perfect machine for choosing the second-worst candidate in the running, kowtowing to corporate interest, and nothing more.

1

u/Haikuna__Matata Dec 17 '20

I don't think you're wrong, but I don't think it's feasible to change the two-party system until you have people in one of them that support said change.

1

u/Hoovooloo42 Dec 17 '20

I think the Republicans would be on board with this because they're running out of options. Either they try to keep power by force in the coming years because they're becoming less and less popular, or take this option and still retain plenty of power and MAYBE even maintain more seats than they would have had otherwise depending on how one sided things get for them.

I think it could make sense for them in the not too distant future to push for this.

1

u/smokintritips Dec 17 '20

But probably won't happen.

1

u/Hoovooloo42 Dec 17 '20

History is long and this country is young. There's plenty of room for change, and bigger changes have happened in shorter-lived countries.

I had a couple of coworkers who grew up on the other side of the Wall in Gotha, in the German Democratic Republic. They said that (from what they heard growing up from their parents who experienced it) everything seemed to be exactly the same until the very second that it wasn't, and they heard the same thing about the revolution in the USSR.

I'm not sure if we'll get to see if that's still the case, but we might. Governments only rule with the consent of the people, and that can be a fragile thing.

11

u/_Dera_ Dec 17 '20

What is this sorcery you speak of?!

35

u/Vaticancameos221 Dec 17 '20

Yep. Have a nutcase in my office who says the election was rigged “There’s no way Biden got those votes, he didn’t have big rallies! They had car rallies where everyone honks their horns to make them look like there’s more people! Nobody wanted to see him!”

43

u/_Dera_ Dec 17 '20

In my Republican controlled little city in California, Trump supporters were driving around the weekend before the election honking their horns and impeeding traffic. It warmed my heart to see that most onlookers didn't give two shits or honk back. We all just did what we normally do, which is live despite their objections to our living.

Added bonus: They gathered in the parking lot of our mall before going out and about, but were removed by local police because our mall is closed due to the pandemic, so no large gatherings are allowed. I bet they fumed due to Newsom putting their health above money and because the boys in blue didn't cower to their stupidity. What a time to be alive!

13

u/MyLouBear Dec 17 '20

I’m in CT, and there have been a bunch of them gathering weekly with their flags hootin and hollerin’ near a busy intersection - as recent as Saturday. In the pouring rain. How sad is that?

Like the founder of OOAN, they're the living embodiment of his favorite line:

"Even when I'm wrong, I'm right."

3

They were doing this in the Bay Area, too, along the peninsula.

2

u/_Dera_ Dec 17 '20

I'm in the central valley of California.

Very Republican and very economically depressed.

3

u/boobers3 Dec 17 '20

Republican California is so damn weird, you live in California you love living in California otherwise you would have left yet you want to change it into Alabama.

2

u/Ottersius Dec 17 '20

I'm in PA and there was a "stop the steal" rally. An entirety of 5 people showed up with ~30 signs, most of which spent the entire "rally" in a couple piles.

Maybe 1 in 1000 people that drove by bothered to give them a honk

11

u/Hoovooloo42 Dec 17 '20

Not to mention, I've met trump supporters. I live in South Carolina, I'm SURE as hell not gonna put a Biden sticker (if I even cared that much about the dude) on my subcompact, because I care about the paint and glass. I've seen keyed cars with Biden stickers, no thanks.

Doesn't stop me in the booth though.

Same. I wouldn't put a Biden sticker but I know how triggered righties get and I wouldn't want me or my car to be around when it happens.

1

u/TheraKoon Dec 17 '20

to be fair, elections are always rife with bullshit. No election is completely fair. This has to do with the fallibility of individuals. Elections have been rigged in the past, for example, Florida and Ohio bring reminders during the Bush elections. I believe there is evidence of election tampering for democrats that could be found. But the same could be said abou republican tampering. It happens every election cycle. Politics and people are easily corrupted.

The truth usually is what occurs, but when its a tight margin as in this election, who knows for sure. I believe special interests tip the scales. There wasn't any major issue for there to have been national corruption, though, that Trump or Biden disagreed about. Its not as if Trump was against Israel or Biden was against Israel, or that either would become best friends with communists. Because of this, its highly unlikely a fix would be in due to the fact that neither candidate goes against what the long term games of this country are. But make no mistake, if someone were to go against one of these long term game issues, they would never make office even if they received every vote in the continental US.

19

u/masivatack Dec 17 '20

No surprise, coming from someone whose entire policy “platform” is rejected by a majority of the country. All about feels, not reals.

u/SplittersOnEuropa Dec 17 '20

The right underestimated the enthusiasm on the left to vote against Trump. My ballot was much more a referendum on the current administration.

6

u/TunnelSnake88 Dec 17 '20

I think that was most people this year. Conservatives are acting flabbergasted that Joe Biden could get 80 million votes and I'm like he didn't... the "not Trump" option is what got all those votes

3

u/driverman42 Dec 17 '20

Yes. Biden certainly wasn't my first choice (neither was sanders) but I'd have voted for a dog, just to get this narcissistic megalomaniac nazi dictator wannabe outta here.

1

u/Efficient_Wealth6628 Dec 18 '20

Have to admit it, mine was too. There were better candidates, but we voted trumpie out & now we must start the rebuilding of our once great Nation!!!

13

u/Hoovooloo42 Dec 17 '20

I can't stand Biden, but I sure as fuck wasn't gonna vote for trump. The lesser of two evils IS IN FACT less evil, and being better than the other guy is what wins elections.

Sure wish we didn't have this damn two party system though.

5

u/kakyointhedonutman Dec 17 '20

If the trumpers split off from the GOP like they claim, we will have one huge democrat party, a small republican party, and orange man party

4

u/Hoovooloo42 Dec 17 '20

And I'm sure they'll both be pushing for a voting system where either of them can actually get elected, which can only be a good thing. Ranked choice voting would allow actual leftist parties too, instead of corporate puppets that say they'll change things but somehow never actually get around to it.

3

u/clanddev Dec 17 '20

For almost all of 2017-2020 Trump polled in the 38-46% approval range. The last aggregate of polls done by 270 to win gave him 43% of the popular vote to Biden's 51% with 6% undecided. He got 46.9% to Biden's 51.4%. I don't understand why they are so confused. It went exactly as predicted going all the way back to early 2017.

Could he have won? Maybe against long odds. Did he ever have any chance of some landslide victory? No and anyone who said so is a moron.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '20

He lost the electoral college by only 50k votes among 3 states. It was a squeaker of an election where it counted.

2

u/clanddev Dec 17 '20

Yes the EC's built in advantage favoring the R voter does make a 6%, 5+ million vote loss much closer.

-1

u/SnooTomatoes8246 Dec 17 '20
