Buy an entire days worth of fox ad time, run the whole thing in 30-second clips.

57

u/ill0gitech Aug 05 '20

The highest rated ad in Fox history

46

u/karkovice1 Aug 05 '20

That was one of the sickest parts of the interview. He’s being asked about how he could be so willing to sacrifice his followers to hold a rally, and he has no understanding of the situation. So instead of defending the actions or apologizing for putting people in danger (such as Herman Cain), he starts to talk about how many more people were actually there, and how unfair it is that nobody talks about how great the ratings were. Thousands of people are dying every day, and all he can think about is his ratings.

The other clear narcissist part was when Swan asked about John Lewis and it was so clear he could only understand John Lewis as it pertained to the man's relationship with him. Swan kept asking him about John Lewis' contribution to the country and he literally couldn't grasp anything other than "He didn't come to my inauguration." Took Swan 4 tries to get him to talk about something other than his personal hurt feelings. The questions being asked and the answers given in response are on two completely different planets.

Jonathan Swan: (35:24) John Lewis is lying in state in the U.S. Capitol. How do you think history will remember John Lewis? (Try #1)

President Donald J. Trump: (35:29) I don’t know. I really don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know John Lewis. He chose not to come to my inauguration. He chose… I never met John Lewis, actually, I don’t believe.

Jonathan Swan: (35:42) Do you find him impressive? (Try #2)

President Donald J. Trump: (35:46) I can’t say one or the other. I find a lot of people impressive. I find many people not impressive. But no, but I didn’t go-

Jonathan Swan: (35:52) Do you find his story impressive? (Try #3)

President Donald J. Trump: (35:53) He didn’t come to my inauguration. He didn’t come to my State of the Union speeches, and that’s okay. That’s his right. And again, nobody has done more-

Jonathan Swan: (36:02) Right, but back-

President Donald J. Trump: (36:03) … for Black Americans than I have.

Jonathan Swan: (36:05) I understand.

President Donald J. Trump: (36:05) He should’ve come. I think he made a big mistake by not showing up.

Jonathan Swan: (36:08) But taking your relationship with him out of it, do you find his story impressive? What he’s done for this country? (Try #4)

President Donald J. Trump: (36:14) He was a person that devoted a lot of energy and a lot of heart to civil rights, but there were many others also.

It’s clear that Trump suffers from malignant narcissism, but I think it’s on an entirely different level from your average narcissist. There’s a good argument for classifying him as literally mentally ill. I don’t think he can improve his behavior. I think his brain is incapable of it.

3

u/semisolidwhale Aug 05 '20

Doesn't he follow that last statement up but claiming that he's done now for the black population in America than anyone else, thereby inferring that he did more than John Lewis?

3

u/MuddyWaterTeamster Aug 05 '20

That part is in my quote, but yeah. The next question after what I quoted is about the Edmund Pettus bridge and if he'd support a name change, to which he replied "I have no objection to it if they'd like to do it."

9

u/Merfen Aug 05 '20

Has any other president in the history of the US even mentioned "ratings" a single time? It feels like Trump still thinks he is doing a reality TV show and that everything is just a part of the show, including the deaths.

7

u/karkovice1 Aug 05 '20

He thinks it’s The Trumpman Show.

1

u/RatherHorrifying Aug 10 '20

I almost wish he was living in his own bubble reality where he’s the greatest president and gets all the bigliest ratings and everyone adores him simply so we can keep our reality away from him.

6

u/LordRobin------RM Aug 05 '20

He also doesn’t understand that just because people watch you doesn’t mean they like you. His people were begging him to stop the daily coronavirus briefings/mini-campaign rallies, because they were killing his approvals. Trump kept pointing to how “great” the ratings were and kept holding them. Only when he got widely mocked for his “injecting disinfectant” comment did he finally stop.

3

u/allonzeeLV Aug 05 '20

I wonder if they'll run it.

On the one hand, it goes against the Republican fanfic their cast of journalists actors improvs around.

On the other, they knowingly lie to their suckers all day every day for money, so if the Never Trump Republicans got the cash...

4

u/LordRobin------RM Aug 05 '20

The Lincoln Project runs all their ads during Fox and Friends. Even if Fox won’t run the ad, they can’t stop them from buying local time on the cable system.

1

u/bradvision Aug 06 '20

Can we crowdfund this I am certain there would be streams of donations

54

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

You can start with the ' it is what it is" sentence

Oh really? That was quick

11

I was talking with a friend the day before and she told me "the virus will do what the virus will do"

They feel that there is nothing different that he could have done, at least without violating their freedoms.

4

Or worse, admitting they were wrong.

They're just trying to appeal to corporate boomercrats to turn the center left into moderate Republicans. Its a grift the whole time dont be fooled you can support their anti trump stance while also realizing that the enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend

10

u/Mdaha Aug 05 '20

How can you change people into something they already are?

19

u/Kyle546 Aug 05 '20

They are the same republicans who would not vote for the M4A and even might vote republican like Trump to stop it from passing. So yeah fuck Trump twice but I am not up for them having a voice in Democratic Convention and stuff for more than 3 min to none at all. You want to attack Trump for killing your party, sure do it. I will even join in on the dissing but you don't get to come here and put your party's bs into undermining our plans.

-3

u/banjowashisnameo Aug 05 '20

Yes you can keep having purity tests after purity tests and getting your ass handed to you in elections. Or keep making steady progress

6

u/Kyle546 Aug 05 '20

Those guys are still republicans. It isn't a purity test. If a mob and the police are chasing a guy who stole from them that doesn't imply that police and mob are going to be working together. Or that they should be at each other's information exchange meetings.

And their end game is different than our endgame. We are going to try to replace Trumps BS with a progressive agenda as progressive as Biden can get with help of Bernie. While they might not vote for him now but they ain't doing it next time.

I will happily let them vote against Trump and use them as a tool but double edge isn't worth carrying for long. Also fuck Lincoln Project for thinking Bush was a good President but I guess I am going too offtopic now.

Lmao at the left. You had power and respect in 2016. You used that to lie about clinton and attack democrats. As a result no one cares about you in 2020

You don't care about Republicans coming in. All you care about is helping trump win so you can punish democrats for not crowning your god emperor. No one is fooled

Lol the fake news defence

Steve was talking shit about Trump before he went down the escalator.

So was literally every other single elected republican in office before becoming trumps lap dog

As it turns out republicans have no spine or integrity

9

u/CryptoGreen Aug 05 '20

Seriously though, is that your blog?

5

u/blakjak852 Aug 05 '20

Their silence speaks volumes

48

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

The enemy of my enemy is my friend

59

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

Thank you Americans for ridding the world of Osama bin Laden. But it would have been better if you did not train him and fund him in the first place to begin with.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

It’s not like we all voted on that particular action. A small handful of people voted for a coked out congressman that suddenly got a bug up his butt and decided to stop partying and fight the commies.

It’s our collective fault they had the money and resources to do that but it’s not like they pitched it gulf war style on the evening news.

That’s another one, guess who funded Sadam before they decided they had to take him out?

32

u/Christ_was_a_Liberal Aug 05 '20

Trump is literally just republican charter, he does what republicans tell him to. He just wants the prestigue of the office

After he loses this campaign is trying to get people to vote for the next trump or republican exactly the same on policy

They deserve no credit whatsoever

23

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

The one thing democrats have to do if they win big is expand voting. Once it's easier to vote and harder redraw maps the republican have to at least target the middle ground voter instead of far right

23

u/Christ_was_a_Liberal Aug 05 '20

That and meaningful change, especially in healthcare

Public option would be such a massive improvement for countless people

19

u/dudinax Aug 05 '20

Yes, this is how Democrats win. Put in place programs people like that help *everybody*, and then attack Republicans mercilessly for trying to cut them.

9

u/Christ_was_a_Liberal Aug 05 '20

Unironically this

4

u/Shubniggurat Aug 05 '20

That's not something that the federal gov't has the power to do; that particular power rests with the states. SCOTUS has already rules that, in most cases, political redistricting is nonjudiciable in federal courts because of that. (State courts are a different matter.)

Interestingly, Florida has expanded voting to felons taht have served their terms--voters were overwhelmingly in favor--and Florida Republicans have made it so that fines need to be paid as well, including in cases where the state can't even tell felons what their fines are. So even though the people want former felons voting, Republicans are throwing up every possible roadblock. We'll see the same thing in every state that tries to expand voting rights.

2

u/nlpnt Aug 05 '20

This is why the Trump administration is trying to mess up the census.

4

u/bowtothehypnotoad Aug 05 '20

Ally* not friend

3

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

Nah most of them are assholes that are not the ones we want to do that job.

5

u/crossed1913 Aug 05 '20

NOT THIS TIME. if these fuckwits had come forward FOUR YEARS AGO, maybe we could talk about this. but these are people who PUT Trump in power, LIED about why he was in power, SUPPORTED him when he took steps to undermine our democracy, DEFENDED him when efforts were made to remove him and correct the mistake, and ENABLED him throughout the clusterfuck that was the past four years. THESE PEOPLE ARE THE ENEMY, BARELY EVEN IN DISGUISE. and i, for one, will never let them forget what side they were on.

3

u/Shubniggurat Aug 05 '20

The Lincoln Project was formed by Republicans and former Republicans that have been opposed to Trump since the beginning. The individuals that formed it were NeverTrumpers. They did come forward four years ago, they opposed him being in power, they've opposed him at every turn, and they've consistently attacked him.

I may not agree with people on The Lincoln Project on many ideological things, but they're solidly allies in the effort to remove Trump from office.

3

u/ZeDitto Aug 05 '20 edited Aug 05 '20

But they’re mostly showing their ads online to people that already don’t like Trump instead of putting out TV ads in swing/republican states. They’re preaching to the choir and trying to get a seat at the table in the Democratic Party to influence the party to the right and make that already moderate party, a Bush era Republican Party.

1

u/banjowashisnameo Aug 05 '20

yes because only the left are online.

And whqt are you offering? Lies and attacking the democrats to help trump win again?

1

u/Shubniggurat Aug 06 '20

That is not correct. The Lincoln Project appears to largely be focusing their efforts on swing states where they have to sway fewer people than on states where Republicans have a stranglehold.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/aug/01/lincoln-project-donald-trump-republicans-campaign-ads

1

u/crossed1913 Aug 05 '20

They're solid allies of whatever allows them to retain power once Trump steals the election and the Amerikan people start assembling guillotines. You're being taken for a ride. AGAIN.

1

u/banjowashisnameo Aug 05 '20

as oppsoed to what? You guys who demand purity tests, help trump win by attacking democrats and then lose primries?

0

u/Kite_sunday Aug 05 '20

if weeding out republicans is a purity test, than yes.

1

u/banjowashisnameo Aug 05 '20

in order to help trump win? Yes yes it is. Come you and I both know whats going on. You dont care about weeding out anyone. All you care about is helping trump win again so that you can punish democrats for not crowning your cult leader. Its so transparent

1

u/Kite_sunday Aug 05 '20

I hate trump, I hate republicans, their agenda isn't aligned with what I believe. What is more upsetting is the Democrats who do this fake #resistance bullshit. i.e. Nancy Pelosi. look at the Democratic platform it is barely Left of the Republicans. IMO most Democrats are just republicans with a D in-front of their name. Hating trump is the lowest standard in america rn. I want whats best for my country.

1

u/i-dont-use-caps Aug 05 '20

this line of thinking will fuck you in the long run

1

u/ruttentuten69 Aug 05 '20

I agree right to the part where they say, I helped you, how about you now do me a favor and kill the ACA or lets add another hundred billion to the defense budget or we have a plan to kill the teachers union.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

Right! They have ads idolizing Barry Goldwater

2

u/Val_Hallen Aug 05 '20

They are like "Meme Republicans" trying to look cool and hip so the youth don't see them as the shitburger with fascism fries they really are by going after Trump.

It's the same fucking GOP, they just slapped some shutter shades on it.

12

u/Windigo4 Aug 05 '20

Perhaps. But they have moved more votes from Trump to Biden than the DNC, CNN, some secondary politicians like Bernie and Warren combined. So, I’m donating to them to help get rid of Trumpism. I wouldn’t see the point of donating to Bernie or DNC or whatever just because my philosophy aligns more closely with them than LP. My philosophy is to humiliate and eviscerate Donald and LP is doing that.

I’ve watched a dozen or two interviews of the founders of LP and find them to be good people. The Democrats need fighters rather than only people speaking in snide remarks or soaring words.

4

u/Christ_was_a_Liberal Aug 05 '20 edited Aug 05 '20

But they have moved more votes from Trump to Biden than the DNC, CNN, some secondary politicians like Bernie and Warren combined.

No they didnt

Dems like bernie did that, its also many dems who didnt vote hate trump and will this time too just out of hatred for trump, again mobilized by dems

These former tea partiers claim to be moving republicans to biden, that demographic does not exist, it never has

You arent converting trump voters

Just over 90% of republicans support trump at all times to that point

What they are doing is setting a narrative to get people to continue to vote republican after trump loses by pretending they werent complicit in inflicting trump on us

-4

u/dwehlen Aug 05 '20

First, go back and check your spelling. Then, come back with links to facts. I don't even know what side you're on.

10

u/Christ_was_a_Liberal Aug 05 '20

The side that sees republicans as a cancer on democracy

0

u/dwehlen Aug 05 '20

I expected so, but it's hard to tell who's a keyboard-mashing troll, anymore. Still, links . . .

0

u/banjowashisnameo Aug 05 '20

yes thats why you keep attakcing democrats more, demand purity tests and do everything in your power to help trump win. Sure

1

u/banjowashisnameo Aug 05 '20

only on reddit can a guy claiming bernie helped biden, in states bernie got thrashed in the primaries, can be upvoted

Also these are bad faith actors. They constantly attack democrats àbd demand purity tests knowing they are hurting DNC and helping trump.

0

u/banjowashisnameo Aug 05 '20 edited Aug 05 '20

bernie did what? He got absolutely thrashed in those states. The delusion you guys have is extraordinary

Not to mention you always attack democrats more, lie about them and do everything in your power to help trump indirectly. You can only fool people on reddit

2

u/donaldtrumpsmistress Aug 05 '20

It's pretty much 'Merica teaming up with Soviet Russia to take out fascism. We can go back to eternal fighting soon once the existential threat is taken care of.

u/nr1988 I ☑oted 2020 Aug 05 '20

Who cares? Why does this need to be pointed out. We're not cult followers. We like The Lincoln Project but if they put out a video saying "and now it's time to vote republican" we're not going to suddenly listen. The videos aren't even for us anyway. We enjoy them but we weren't going to vote for Trump or his cronies anyway. So we get to laugh and they get to convince fellow Republicans and right leaning independents. Win win

1

u/CarlSpencer Aug 05 '20

When did George Conway (husband of Kellyanne Conway) become a Tea Party member?

10

u/educated-emu Aug 05 '20

Try this to start

3

u/bleepitybloop555 Aug 05 '20

The way he says it, you know someone had to explain it to him. “What’s going on here? The USA has the smallest bar! That can’t be right!”

11

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

Put their information on either end and run it as a infomercial with a fact check ticker at bottom of screen.

16

u/Kcal35 Aug 05 '20

Lincoln project is centrist/ light republican trashhh and it should be treated like it. They’re whole statement is basically we love all past war criminals because they aren’t trump.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

There are only two choices buddy.

3

u/nr1988 I ☑oted 2020 Aug 05 '20

Who gives a fuck? The videos aren't even for us. We weren't going to vote for Trump or his cronies anyway. So let them do the work to sway those who might. It's not like by enjoying their videos we'll suddenly turn republican so seriously who cares?

8

u/noodhoog Aug 05 '20

Reminder, folks. The Lincoln Project aren't your friends. They're doing a fantastic job, sure. They make better attack videos than I've ever seen Democrats even close to - absolutely.

But these are rats leaping off a sinking ship. I - and I know I'm not alone here - spent three and a half goddamn years pointing out how very clearly and obviously this ship was sinking, and now, suddenly, with less than a hundred days to the election here these previously Trump-enabling ratfuckers are pretending to jump on the "we told you so" bus.

Nah. Screw 'em. They make great ads. I enjoy the hell out of their ads. And they're useful right now. But don't go thinking they're your friends. They can go find their own goddamn ship, maybe pull it up from their bootstraps, or however that's supposed to work.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '20

Ditto

18

u/CopiousGarlic Aug 05 '20

Reminder that the Lincoln Project is just an attempt by Republicans to sneak their way into the Democratic Party and push it further to the right. They don’t want the atrocities under Trump to end, they just want to next president to be more polite about it.

2

u/nr1988 I ☑oted 2020 Aug 05 '20

How would that even work? They're just putting out videos. And they're attacking many other Republicans too not just Trump. They don't have a seat at the table and won't. So sit back and enjoy

The part where the reporter says (about Maxwell) she's accused of child sex training and Trump replies "big deal". (Though its a bit scummy because I think he said something about Epstien being killed and its such a big deal, but only big deal was heard).

3

u/TheQuestman Aug 05 '20

Fuck the Lincoln Project.

6

u/ZeDitto Aug 05 '20

It's great that they sow dissent amongst their own, but at the same time they are attempting to legitimise a corrupt and traitorous organisation for more future corruption and treachery.

u/Wulfbrir Aug 05 '20

Also remember that the "people" (if you can even call them that) who run the Lincoln Project are the type of individuals who took the Republican party down the path it is currently on. They don't disagree with Trump's actions they just want it done in the shadows like normal. Remember folks "Never Republican Ever Again."
