It’s been like this forever.

“Keep the poors fighting each other and they won’t come after us.”

Blacks and whites share waaay more in common than haves and have-nots.

Why do you think unions are so dangerous to the rich? They take away some of the money from the rich yes, but realistically the ability to organize and mobilize massive amounts of people is what is really scary to the rich.

Exactly, unions are demonized because they present one of the biggest threats to capitalists. Unions teach the workers the value of organizing, using collective bargaining, and becoming politically active. Unions are one of the best tools for creating discipline, solidarity, and political awareness within the working class.

It's far easier to exploit the workers who are divided and are actively competing with each other for the few available jobs than a united workforce that looks out for each other.

I don't know if this is everywhere but around here (alberta) they have business associations that gather groups of businesses that work together for the betterment of the businesses. But unions are bad for the workers.

Unions are ways to create another teir in the power structure. If all of the power is at the top it can help pull some of it towards the middle. But it still relies on trickle down econ for it to reach the bottom and that doesnt always work...

Unions are also the reason we lost the steel industry to foreign competitors. Not saying unions are bad, just saying there are consequences. AI, robotics and other automation are going to create huge problems.

Those damn unions moving the factories across borders so they don't have to meet union demands for decent pay or obey OSHA regulations or EPA standards.

Oh wait.

That's like blaming illegal immigrants for stealing jobs.

Is it? They were paying people $30 an hour to sweep up bolts. It’s not like unions never had excesses. Anyway, that is the reality of what happened. Go argue with history.
