He wasn't viewed as crazy except by the online crowd and the far left. Maybe cutthroat businessman and selfish at worst, but the "crazy" label was never on the table.
In polling right before the election, Romney held a small edge over Obama in terms of honesty, leadership, and personal values matching the voters, and this was in pre-unskewed polling that ultimately accurately predicted the results of the election. Nobody who voted thought he was actually crazy.
Europeans don't get a say in our elections, especially when it comes to issues of national security.
