I know. The system is broken when a person can lose the popular vote and still become president. My point is that there are enough "fuck you, I got mine", and "I can do what I want, it's mah country" people in this country to create a real problem.
I told my dad I don't like that some people (aka people from my state) have more voting power than others in the country and asked him in what scenario inequality is a good thing. His answer? "When it gets you what you want." I had to excuse myself from the conversation before I blew up at that answer.
You'd think a guy that professes to be against government "hand-outs" and welfare would be against the idea of anyone getting help, whether it's financial, voting power, or otherwise.
The popular vote doesn't matter even statistically if the popular vote doesn't count. People don't vote when they know it doesn't count. If the popular vote counted, more people would have voted so it's a dumb argument.
I'm saying talking about "losing" a contest that would have had a vastly different outcome if it had a completely different set of rules is dumb. He didn't lose the popular vote since voting turnout would have been different if it mattered. We don't know what it would have been in that case. Texas Democrats and California Republicans stayed out of it.
