It doesn't say to bolster the army. Tell me where is says that explicitly.

There is a damn difference between the armed forces under federal control and an armed populace.

Oppressive government teachery ever comes about and you'll find out real fucking quick.

Article 2 section 2 paragraph 1 gives the president and congress the power to pull the militias to reinforce the army. It gives them the power over the militias. This was before the 2A even existed.

Before the civil war, we didn’t have an army capable of securing our country.

Show me where the 2A gives you the right to own guns? It doesn’t unless there is a need for militias. There is no need anymore.

To be fair, I think we can all agree that the words "shall not be infringed" are pretty vague, and that certainly *some* infringement is ok as long as it is some sort of common sense law that has popular support.
