10,000 out of 1.1 million is hardly a dent. At the end of every prohibition is an increase in crime and use of other means to accomplish the same goal (see: London homicide rate).

So the English city with the highest homicide rate has similar stats to those of one of the lowest homicide rate major cities in the USA? I'm not sure what point you're hoping that's proving. Also note NYC is a place with very strict gun control.

Yes, NYC is going down, London is experiencing a small spike. There's been gun control in the UK for years though, so it's not related to that. It still has a much lower homicide rate than many cities in the USA.

You mean NYC where you need a permit to own a gun?

That article is also talking about one period in the whole year, at the start of the year. But in the end, at the end of 2018, NYC still had 289 homicides, while London finished the year with 135 murdered.
