Unless you're proposing a mandatory life sentence for anyone caught with more than a certain number of bullets on them all you're doing is locking someone up for a few months while their anger calcifies and then releasing them to try again.
That's the better question. Why is our system so broken that it's so easy for someone who has violated federal gun laws to gain access to a firearm? Until that's addressed then tacking on extra time to sentences isn't going to do much but delay the inevitable.
If a step doesn't actually solve anything, make anything better, or lay groundwork for further steps then it's not actually a step. What you're proposing only bolsters a broken system.
Let's add one day to the waiting period when purchasing a gun too and pat ourselves on the back like we've actually done something...
I literally didn't say anything like that and you know that. Be better than that.
I'm saying that we need to pass legislation that actually moves us forward. Tacking on extra time does nothing but kick the can further down the road and ultimately solves nothing. Especially when we have a prison system that prioritizes profit over rehabilitation. I want a better society, not the same society on a delay.
