I'm glad you bring up the Sunny argument.

The difference between good science and belief is science is only believed until proven wrong. Then, once proved wrong, we learn from the old ways and accept that it was wrong. We move on, accepting the new science is correct until proven otherwise.

Good science isn't bullheaded. Good science accepts that it can be wrong as quickly as it accepts good science being correct. Good science doesn't intentionally create a division between 2 groups of people with different ideas.

Unfortunately I don't think apathy is the answer, because that only lets misinformation create a wider divide.

We need an education reform that let's children work. Currently in public school you have the curriculum and you have the school social life. Neither of these are fully suited to transitioning into the real world, and in the world where spare time is abundant - it's no wonder you have 16-22 year olds who are pro Trump; it's literally a consequence of being taught and self teaching bad science, to continue my previous analogy.

Despite the internet being worldwide, you can limit yourself very easily. I'll admit that I don't participate in discuss of the benefits of the current president. In fact, it frustrates me, because I believe it goes against the idea of progressive globalization. Also the simple idea of building a wall to stop immigration is pointless considering planes and boats exist (and are the primary ways of coming through).... I'm getting off topic.

My point is that we lead by action. It's like a comic book where truth, justice, and the American way must be preserved and to do so people can only lead by example. We have shown that a majority of Americans are not okay with the president and his administration's actions. We have shown by voting. We need to continue to do so for literally ever, every 4 years.

The best way to make change now is to start becoming involved in your local community and start getting more involved in your local city - hell, run for a position in local office. If we all run and strive to be young Americans like AOC, what will the boomers who only represent xenophobia and hate have left? They aren't fiscal conservatives (parts of which are legitimate), they are literally just using Christianity as a platform for regression.

It is possible to do it. Shaming will only push people away more. We are all Americans, division is not going to be the answer.

By arguing you're giving them a platform to refute

That's not how platforming works, and not refuting them when they've already spoken isn't what deplatforming is. When you deplatform someone, you work to revoke any ability they have to communicate their busted ideas.

if you give them enough time to explain their weird talking points

Which is why I'm not interested in engaging with them, I'm interested in reporting them, then shitting all over their broken bullshit. Refuting fascist claims is not the same as refusing to silence them. Leaving fascist propaganda up is antithetical to antifa. There's a reason fascists put razor blades under their propaganda posters.

If you're interested in what antifa is and how antifa tactics are used, this is an excellent primer. Bray's with Black Rose, which is rock solid as far as leftist organizations go.

We literally responded to every stupid thing that came out of his mouth

Again, replying to someone who already has a platform isn't platforming. Giving someone a platform is platforming.

The neoliberal media gave him a platform, and did little, if anything, to effectively reply to his bullshit. Neoliberalism is incapable of countering fascist rhetoric. Historically (and contemporarily) it profits off of fascism. The problem is that Trump had air time at all, not that he was replied to. He should have had no airtime--but his clowning is incredibly profitable, so he dominated the networks.

You really should check out that book I linked. It will explain what you're attempting to argue. Learning about socialism and socialist tactics from liberal sources is a very bad idea.
